Yeah, I agree on that above point. It’s not until half way through this song that I feel like it hits its stride. Initially, I was like “hmm it’s good, but I need more” but once the AHHH backing hits and Gaga’s vocals get more animated, it takes on a new life and the final chorus is superb.

I don’t think it’ll go down as a classic or one of her best and I could easily believe this is a Born This Way cast-off that’s had a bit of a dusting off (though I think Gaga is too artistically inventive to do something like that) but it feeling quintessentially Gaga is definitely part of its charm and a solid lead single for sure. I think it’ll keep getting better with more listens too.

I've always loved Disease. MAYHEM is such a good album, and this remains my favourite on it. So glad that people are coming around to it now!

This is a MUST watch. The creativity and choreography is amazing, and certainly is one of the best fan mades I’ve seen that uses Gaga’s song and inspiration? https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJ4Zqu5I5I

Was really looking forward to listening this morning and had read all the comments on here before listening so the bar was high.

Have listened 3 or 4 times so far and it sounds better each time. Proper Lady Gaga sounding song.

The backing on the verses reminds me a little bit of (takes a breath) Filthy by Justin Timberlake... but there's only a passing resemblance.

Amazing how R1 have A-listed this from the off, but they struggled to C-list Die With a Smile.

Anyways... waiting for this to smash!!

"Your nan's favourite artist" did THAT :cheeseblock:

She isn’t going to give us the video today is she? :(

Need the video to be released to maximise on the Halloween weekend streams.

This is EXCELLENT!!! A return to form for Gaga, taping into her incredible melodic pop sensibilities. The way the production made me gasp when the beat drops. Damn! A Gaga song has not clicked with me on first listen in over a decade like this.
I’ve listened to it several times now and I’m starting to get obsessed. The bridge and the ahhs are such a hook and then how it soars on the vocals and production later. Strongest lead she’s had since BTW I’d say, can’t wait to see the video now.

The Independent praises Lady Gaga’s “Disease”:

“This the first glimpse of Gaga’s forthcoming seventh album and, if it’s anything to go by, the prognosis seems excellent. Ironically, it sounds like something Gaga could have written while shooting Folie à Deux: beneath the clink of chains and crackles of electricity beats a warped, fantastical heart. ‘Disease’ is like a defibrillator to the chest, jolting us out of our stupor. Welcome back, Mother Monster.”

Score: 80/100

Oh do shut tf up if you can't even be bothered to check your facts properly.

I meant no.q!! And it doesn't matter if that debuted at no 1, as it did it via fan buys and Ariana, not like the older ones, which had staying power! She 2on't get another solo no.1 ever again. Mark my words!! Except maybe at 60, with a Cher-like, Believe

As somebody who now has a very complicated relationship listening to any of Gaga's music anymore, I took the plunge when I didn't think I would. "Complicated" because I'm haunted by memories of a past friendship whenever I listen to Gaga. She was the soundtrack to mine and my ex friends life together and we had so many memories built to a large portion of Gaga's discography. As somebody who was absolutely besotted by Gaga for many years, it got to the point where I had to drastically cut down on anything in relation to her because it simply hurt too much - every single time I read news about her, hear clips of her music, etc, I get such a f***ing painful longing for my past because it just automatically takes me back to these gorgeous carefree days I had with the person who meant the absolute most to me.

Kinda crying as I type this! BUT I listened, and it was extremely difficult, but I ended up doing so with a bit of a smile on my face...perhaps a sad smile! And I think it's phenomenal. Instantly in her top 3 best leads. I'm not sure how much I'll listen to it (and believe me, it's not because I don't want to), but I hope it's a huge success for her.

Anyway, sorry for the random deep and meaningful! There's a reason I don't really visit this section anymore, as much as I'd love to, and I promise you it's not due to ignorance.
