How interesting that Kylie's releasing a single with what will presumably be a strong promotional push in Germany!

Meh to the single choice but at least the era isn't totally over (I was beginning to think that was it other than the tour). Kylie's had a few entries on the download chart for Germany but nothing that's appeared on the main chart - will 'Someone for Me' be the song to do so? Guessing the big promo slot will be Wetten, dass..?, I'm not aware of any others.

I like the song, I wouldn't say I'm huge on it but she's had worse singles.

At least they are releasing something, not my first choice but im happy enough the era single wise isnt over yet.

I wonder will they go with physicals to support the release.

They may also of course be her warm up act for her concerts in Germany/Poland etc

Both Wetten, dass..? and the German download charts no longer exist. Maybe Someone for Me will be the theme song for the new season of Heidi Klum's Germany's Next Top Model, which premieres on February 13th.

 

Still baffles me that PP just didn't chart on the German chart. I would've thought it woudl've made an appearance during Pride month at least. Are German charts also a mix of sales and streaming like the UK?

Having never heard of YouNotUs previously I looked them up - they have 3.3 million Spotify listeners and scored a hit in 2019 (Top 20 in Germany, Austria, Poland & Switzerland).

I didn't really listen to Tension II very much, so gave Someone To Me a listen earlier and thought it was a bit meh to be honest.

 

Overly produced vocals and not much else. I kinda hope they pass it by in the UK as it would be her worst single for quite a long time!!

Even if she had the most amazing single, I doubt it would make a dent on the UK charts with rather low streaming numbers and little radio support, so quality doesn't matter much (PP was once in a lifetime, in this streaming era for a senior artist).

Whatever they plan for the single put it all out in 1 week and it might snatch a low top 100 with 3 physicals but I feel it will be a low key release.

I don't think they made any mention of its potential chart success, to be fair. I think they were purely talking from a quality perspective.

I just enjoy any releases of Kylie. It's just great people are interested in remxing her songs etc. May as well release things while she is rehersing etc and filling gaps

Thanks. You're right, I didn't mention potential chart success, because it's pretty clear it won't have much (if any).

 

I just don't particularly like the song and don't think it will sounds great on, say, Radio 2 as a Kylie single. So I'd prefer they just skipped it in the UK.

True. I mean I suppose I can appreciate it being a less obvious sound for Kylie than, say, Taboo or Good as Gone, but I know which is more likely to sell albums.
