November 11, 2024Nov 11 Wrighty last season and now Linekar. Can't imagine Shearer will stick around much longer in that case.
November 12, 2024Nov 12 Author The BBC has confirmed that Match of the Day host Gary Lineker is to step down from the flagship football show at the end of this season, but will also host BBC Sport’s coverage of the 2026 World Cup. November 12, 2024Nov 12 I kind of think match of the day seems outdated in the modern era but the ratings could still be good not sure. They need a different more accessible quicker version
November 12, 2024Nov 12 I kind of think match of the day seems outdated in the modern era but the ratings could still be good not sure. They need a different more accessible quicker version I agree, I never watch it anymore when you have the essential highlights in 3 minute videos on Sky Sports' YouTube channel. Funnily enough the only time I watched it in recent years was the week they all went on strike and it was a much more condensed format, although I did that more out of curiosity than anything.
November 12, 2024Nov 12 Jermaine Jenas 100% Scratch that, completely forgot he was sacked last year
November 12, 2024Nov 12 I think Match Of The Day still has its place, it feels like a more of an engrossing experience than just watching YouTube highlights that are less than 5 mins long. Especially on the final day of the season when there are 10 matches of in depth highlights and analysis. Of course when it comes to the live matches in the FA Cup and international tournaments there's not too many complaints. It will be strange not seeing Gary Lineker on there though after spending so long presenting the show.

November 12, 2024Nov 12 I hope it goes to Alex Scott, shes proven shes a good presenter with decent knowledge and would be a statement to give it to a woman.
November 12, 2024Nov 12 I hope it goes to Alex Scott, shes proven shes a good presenter with decent knowledge and would be a statement to give it to a woman. I think Gabby Logan is a way better presenter personally. Match of the Day is still massively watched and personally I prefer watching it to the YouTube highlights! I think Alex Scott would see a tumble in viewership personally. I think Mark Chapman is the best logical presenter - he does a stellar job on Match of the Day 2 and then use Match of the Day 2 to bed in a new presenter
November 12, 2024Nov 12 Yeh I much prefer motd to you tube which has too short a highlights feel and it’s too impersonal, watching motd is an event. I don’t like Gabby actually, she’s not a football fan and more of a presenter compared to the passion and history in the game Alex has imo.
November 13, 2024Nov 13 Author Gary Lineker will not be presenting Sports Personality of the Year anymore as well.
