November 13, 2024Nov 13 Seems odd not to include Band Aid II on the tracklisting. I know it's probably the least well loved/well remembered one, but they put it on 30's CD (and it's not exactly gonna detract from the appeal to buy the single [it would increase it, if anything...]). I was gonna say it wasn't on streaming (I used to check Apple Music every year, but haven't in a few), but it's on streaming now, at least. 😂
November 13, 2024Nov 13 Author So am I right that it’s premiered on the Monday and not released until the fri 29/11? It’s released on the Monday, but I believe it’s just the compilation CD that’s out on the Friday. It is a little confusing though…
November 13, 2024Nov 13 I would much rather listen to Band Aid 2 than Band Aid 30. Band Aid 20 I quite liked.
November 13, 2024Nov 13 they should include them all, the saw one was crappy, it was basically Kylie, Jason and Bros with a tiny tiny SAW production, but so are the others, I mean, 2004 had Dizzie Rascal so cannot be worse the 40s mix is very biased towards the 2014 version, almost all of them are there even some horrific ones like Rita Ora who did the lousiest job
November 13, 2024Nov 13 You're joking? Not ANOTHER ONE? I'm just waiting to see what they come up with for Band Aid 50!
November 13, 2024Nov 13 Mike Stock from SAW has commented on Band Aid 2 being overlooked: @1856749670606754302
November 13, 2024Nov 13 I know I'm the minority but I've always liked the S/A/W version (not as much as the original obvs) so I'm sad it's been overlooked for this, although I can understand why! Im the same and i still listen to it
November 13, 2024Nov 13 Have all the vocals been re-recorded then, or are they cobbling together vocals from previous recordings? I was wondering that. Will there be a video for it? If they use previously recorded vocals doesn’t that mean the Sugababes featuring would include Heidi and not Siobhan?
November 13, 2024Nov 13 30 felt half-arsed and this even less so. As overstuffed as 20 was, I did appreciate that they tried new, contemporary genres at the time, they had an opportunity to build on that with 30, but it was a damp squib and this seems...almost entirely unnecessary, not even new artists? Can't see it getting near number 1 unless it gets a real push, it seems to just be a hollow 'event' release now which defeats the original concept.
November 13, 2024Nov 13 wouldn't the physical being 5 tracks make it inelegible? Technically yes as it's a four track rule but I wonder if they're able to justify this as being a "remix single" meaning it's allowed an extended run time up to 40 minutes with any number of variations. If it's not being considered as one then that's all of their physical sales ineligible. One song title and any number of remixes of that featured title to a maximum of 40 minutes applicable to “Maxi” physical or digital formats and 12” vinyl formats. One promotional video for lead track only Edited November 13, 2024Nov 13 by lewistgreen
November 13, 2024Nov 13 Yeah, classing them all as remixes of the same song would make sense as a way of getting around the rule. It depends what the OCC class as a remix - if it's a different version of a song with the same title then that works.
November 13, 2024Nov 13 Seems like quite a few artists reissuing a physical format this year to compete for the Christmas singles chart. I guess it makes it a bit more exciting but would be good to see some new titles in the charts this year, rather than just the same old tracks every year.
November 13, 2024Nov 13 Justice for Band Aid 2, being erased from history 😂 I hope it ends up on one of the 1989 yearbooks once Now release the 1989 yearbooks
November 14, 2024Nov 14 Band Aid II was shockingly bad though. A collection of mostly average singers desperately trying to prove themselves and over singing the song. It's best left ignored.

They had to do *something* to mark the 40th anniversary though, I'm not sure what else would have worked? A new contemporary version of the song? Maybe in a country style or something, seen as that seems to be the current trend? Or a Bratified version? I don't really see where they could go with it, so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and wait and see how the Ultimate version sounds. EDIT: If they really wanted it to sell and be Xmas #1 they should have got Taylor Swift involved - her stans would have lapped up a Taylor's version  Edited November 14, 2024Nov 14 by Mangø
