Thinking of putting a lot on Tom too, the numbers are low enough where if Alexa is feeling mischievous she can cause an upset

4/7 Wham!

14/1 Mariah Carey

14/1 Tom Grennan

16/1 Band Aid 40

16/1 Yorkshire Pudding Boy

18/1 Sabrina Carpenter

25/1 Ed Sheeran

25/1 Liam Payne

25/1 Reverend and the Makers

25/1 V and Park Hyo Shin

I put £7 on Tom at 9/1 on bet365 (seems I missed the 14/1 moment there). Like others it's with the view to cash out at the right time. Fingers crossed!
Y'all convinced me to also chuck a fiver on Tom. Got that along side the £1 I put on Ariana a 100/1 a while back just in case Defying Gravity went mental (doesn't look likely) and they counted the bet despite it being a duet.

Well it’s between Wham, Gracie & Tom in my opinion. While Wham seems obvious it isn’t a foregone conclusion.

I have £25 on Gracie at 60/1

£75 on Wham at 3/1

And today £100 on Tom at 9/1

Basically didn’t care much to win a little bit so hoping for a Tom upset. Saturdays Spotify streams should tell you everything, if they’re pretty low for Wham then it’s definitely not over, if it’s over a million then Wham should have it.

There’s no way Wham will be over a million on the 14th Dec?

Where on earth did you get odds that good? I'm not seeing anywhere near those figures!

Where on earth do you get £200 to spend on no1 bets??
I really can’t see it being any one other than wham. I put £7.50 on Cynthia/ariana a while ago but cashed out as that’s clearly not even gonna come close and put it on wham instead, £7.50 returns £13.50 but it’s the small profits that count lol
The same place he gets £20 for every member of the forum... oh wait!

I think Amazon would get a lot of flack if an Alexa exclusive ever does get a Christmas No.1 as it would draw notable media attention as to how the song accrued the majority of its sales and quite likely cause a backlash.

Then again, Sam Ryder got extremely close last year but he also promoted the hell out of his song and sold 9,000 downloads and 2.6k CDs on Christmas week, which I'd be surprised if Tom Grennan comes anywhere near doing. The chart was also two days nearer to Christmas day itself so Alexa had more power in that respect.

I think 42-47k is a reasonable estimate for Tom Grennan's Christmas week sales, depending on how much of a fight he puts up. Wham! maybe 54-60k for Christmas week, again depending how the new physicals do. Gracie should still be on 42-45k by that point too.

I'd really love someone undeniably massive who couldn't possibly miss - even with the Christmas influx - to release their new single right on Christmas week, e.g. Harry Styles. But would any major star really do that in this day and age rather than just waiting to launch their new era in the new calendar year?

I completely retract this after seeing the sales thread.

Having just worked out how shifty Alexa has been this week with that massive percentage boost for Tom (way more than Sam got in the equivalent week last year, when his sales actually dropped from over 29k at No.12 the week before to just under 28k at No.10), I've put a £10 bet on Tom Grennan at 12/1.

I'm not going to cash out, I'll let it run its course. as it's clearly going down to the wire. If Tom can mobilise a few thousand downloads and physical sales then he has a great chance, although I still expect Wham! to take it.

Nobody has unexpectedly released any major single today, I can't see any of the random political/novelty songs currently doing well on iTunes contending, and Gracie has suddenly dropped back to 44k so is out of the running I think, so it's a two-horse race and Tom is really the only chance of winning any notable money this year unless you've got money to burn on Wham! (as it is now by no means a dead cert).

Come on Wham! - if only because the more times it gets Christmas Number 1, the more likely it'll be OCC will do something about it.
Wham! getting #1 every year would still be more preferable than Alexa getting it with a song barely anyone is actively listening to

Wham as low 1/5

I shoved 100 quid on them @ 1/2 for a £50 profit so I'm hoping nothing goes disastrously wrong

Don’t care what the odds say, until we see some Spotify data tomorrow nothing is settled
My gambling addict friend has just put £200 on Wham for Christmas number one so for his sake I've bet £20 on Tom Grennan with SkyBet...
