In lieu of the previous SyncTube sessions' weekly polls cutting each week's songs down to a list of 10 options to vote for because no one volunteered to do the work to make such curated lists, for our Hot 100 #1s marathon I'm just going to post one of these threads each week allowing people to vote for whichever songs they want from the full list x

If you don't know what the above sentence is referring to don't worry, this thread is open to participation from anyone (although we're always open to new participants at our weekly listening sessions x), just post in the thread with up to 5 favourites and, if you want, up to 3 least favourites from the below song list. The song with the most favourite nods will get a play at the start of next week's session (and the song with the most least favourite nods will just have a permanent place on a wall of shame for funziez).

Another week, another best poll won by a 1 vote margin, as the last vote broke a tie to put Paul McCartney & Wings into the lead with 'Band On The Run' picking up a total of 8 votes, Paul thus achieving a (non-tied) poll win after all after none of The Beatles' songs managed it. Surprisingly the runner up ends up being a song that wasn't a hit at all in the UK, but Jim Croce's 'Time In A Bottle' made a good enough impression to get 7 votes. John Denver rounded out the top 3 with 'Annie's Song' picking up 6 votes. It was also a 1 vote margin between the top 2 for the worst poll but the (dis)honour ultimately and correctly goes to Ray Stevens' abominable 'The Streak' on 8 votes, with Ringo Starr just avoiding making it a sweep of best and worst for ex-Beatles as 'You're Sixteen' came 2nd with 7 votes. Third place with 5 votes went to '(You're) Having My Baby' by Paul Anka and Odia Coates, not quite as widely hated on BuzzJack as it is elsewhere it seems.

My votes for this week:

Best:

America - Sister Golden Hair

Average White Band - Pick Up The Pieces

Bee Gees - Jive Talkin'

Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting

Van McCoy & The Soul City Symphony - The Hustle

The America song was a good discovery, this week isn't bursting with songs I love so it benefits a bit from that but I do actually like it more than 'A Horse With No Name' (I realise I am probably alone in this x). Average White Band was new to me too.

Worst:

The Doobie Brothers - Black Water

There wasn't anything outright bad this week again but a lot of boring/forgettable songs, this is the one I understood the appeal of the least.

Best:

Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting

Glen Campbell - Rhinestone Cowboy

John Denver - I'm Sorry

KC And The Sunshine Band - That's The Way (I Like It)

Olivia Newton-John - Have You Never Been Mellow

Best:

Barry Manilow - Mandy

Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting

KC And The Sunshine Band - That's The Way (I Like It)

Minnie Riperton - Lovin' You

Van McCoy & The Soul City Symphony - The Hustle

Worst:

Silver Convention - Fly, Robin, Fly

The Staple Singers - Let's Do It Again

Several boring songs, but these two particularly felt they went absolutely nowhere.

Honorary nomination cruelly denied an official mention:

John Denver - Calypso. This ode to the deep-sea explorer Jacques Cousteau was really another Brown Girl In The Ring: I'm Sorry was the rubbish nominated A side but the B side picked up airplay and was given it's own chart-run to peak at 2, when in reality they should have been a double A and Calypso a genuine number one. It's fabulous, like much of John Denver's back catalogue, but he lost it pretty much after this. Ended up splitting the marital bed in half in a divorce and dying on a jet plane, ironically.

loads of others I love of course

worst:

dull, plodding tracks:

John Denver - Thank God I'm A Country Boy

Freddy Fender - Before The Next Teardrop Falls

Linda Ronstadt - You're No Good

B.J. Thomas - (Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song

John Denver - I'm Sorry

Oops I think Popchartfreak's last minute votes have made this a tie! I'll do a quick flash tiebreak on SyncTube x

(I'll just take the first 3 songs listed as worst nominations unless specified otherwise, not that it greatly matters x)

(btw interesting context there re that other John Denver song - it seems to have been only a short period of the Hot 100's history that actually allowed for double A-Sides to chart for whatever reason!)
