Still think Gracie has a good chance to hold Wham off this week - on the equivalent week last year they managed 53k, but the 1st was a Friday so we can surely expect that figure to be a bit lower this week. Gracie's Spotify numbers look fairly stable (actually currently up 30k on last week) so she'll probably do another ~50k. It could be close!

Will be interesting this week but I’d say Gracie should hold #1 this week (remembering wham will need to be doing at least double to match her)

Worth noting that Spotify isn't a very accurate indicator of this.

On the equivalent week last year Wham! did significantly less than double Jack Harlow on Spotify but ended up 7k sales ahead in the official chart

#87 Darlene Love - All Alone on Christmas

Would absolutely love it if this could chart. One of my favourite Christmas songs

that'll be the weekend effect and 1st December effect combined

won't stay like that all week I expect

Does band aid 20 never get added to playlist always wondered why that one never does well anymore considering it was humongous at the time, or do all versions just get combined these days

Has there been an instance where more than 1 version charted sinc streaming

Also listening to the whole episode the BA40 Remix is definitely the worst version

Just done some research and they are not combined on Spotify.

In today's daily chart for Austria, the 1984 version is at #36 and the 2014 version at #67.

And on Italy's Christmas Day chart last year, the 1984 version was #109 and the 2004 version #176.

I do however think the current classification on Apple Music is a bug and they could be combined there, although I have no way of proving that.

Interesting , cheers though

I personally fing BA20 the best version with the original and 30 last

Just remember 20 being inescapable back in 2004 so was just curious

Similar to last year iirc, maybe slightly higher.

Wham! ahead of Mariah globally tho, that’s huge

Is it just me, or is the public starting to get tired of AIWFCIY and preferring other Christmas songs?

I see Bleachers’ Christmas song has entered after being added to Spotify’s main Xmas playlist the other day - I hope they can get their first charting single this way!

The public like sheep put on whatever Christmas playlist is at the top of ask for Alexa to play Christmas songs. It could be whatever, there's no preference involved just how far/high they're up on playlists imo.

Although Mariah is top of Christmas Hits so a lot of people in the UK must be flicking past it or searching for Wham! over it.

I do agree on the whole though - it's pretty crazy how instrumental Christmas Hits is, it's probably the playlist that has had the biggest ever effect on the official chart. The fact that Bobby Helms, Perry Como, Dean Martin etc are way above Wizzard and Slade, new queen of Christmas Laufey is as high as No.26, Kesha - as much as I love her - is new at No.48 - it's pretty clear a lot of listeners do just stick this playlist on and listen in order. A restaurant I was in the other day had it on too, although at least on shuffle.

Hooray, gonna use this next time a certain someone starts banging on about how the OCC are responsible.
