Shame Sarah is so low, I’ve always really loved this song and its parent album. The way it seems to be a ballad but suddenly from nowhere has a rocky chorus.

 

I know it was pretty obvious it was mine - I’ve made no secret of how much I love Sarah <3 any excuse to introduce her stuff to people is a good one.

Roba led the first scoreboard and picked up a number of low scores, but it's fellow mod Wardy who holds the lead now - however the 12 for Rollo moves him to second!

First up not working for me really but thought it was rather quirky on a spontaneous whim looking through a playlist lol. Looks like another of these Wardy could potentially host then :P

Many thanks for the points so far, went through a bit of a drought for a minute, but in a better place for now. It's a real throwback to when I first got into the charts and I loved that this slowly building, dramatic song made the top 40, the part when the strings come in still :wub:

 

Wonderful to see my top 2 as the top 2 so far, I'd guessed that one was Rollo but it's an epic and that's a fantastic entry from Wardy, the sort of ambient chillscape I love *.

The top 2 is looking good now but have to say the results right now are otherwise not super aligned to my taste (so I guess my votes coming up next will be giving a leg up to a fair few lower down the board x). Rooting for a Guillemots win barring a grand second half rally from one of the lower songs.

 

Good pick from Roba there, certainly got the contest off to a quick start with the dramatic changes!

I was wondering if the person who sent Estradasphere was aware that Don Salsa of BJSC fame was a spinoff group from them so Wardy that question is aimed at you :magic:

Not until it was brought to my attention in the listenthrough, but that was the type of dramatic entry I was looking for after changing from my original confirmation.

It’s funny people thought Tafty sent my entry. It was his comment in the confirmations thread that made me remember Perfect Nightmare and thought that was the song he was talking about and I got major FOMO. :lol:

I know you're all shocked, SHOCKED that I was the one who sent MF DOOM x (incidentally it was a nice coincidental surprise that during this contest DOOM got his first charting solo album in the UK, I had no idea that re-release was coming nor would I have guessed that there'd be enough interest in it for it to make the top 100! RIP x)

 

Anyway, my top 3 here are all great discoveries then the next two are both ones I knew already, although I didn't recognise 'The Bird And The Worm' from its title so it was an unexpected blast of nostalgia when it came on in the listenthrough! I also already knew The Airborne Toxic Event, Muse and Solange and while I like all 3 they all narrowly missed out on points here (11th, 12th and 14th respectively with Sarah McLachlan in 13th).

Yes, Brer really was the sender of MF DOOM :o As Dobbo said in the voting thread, it's great to have all 4 of Buzzjack's genre forums represented in this contest. His votes put him a little further adrift at the bottom oops, but also give us a new scoreboard leader with Rollo edging ahead of Wardy! Herbs will be the next vote to reveal.

The Luke Sital-Singh song clicked with me more on second listen, good tune Herbs.

 

I knew I'd probably be coming last but just about the only thing I could think of to search for to find an entry for this was looking for a Reddit thread about rap songs with iconic beat switches so just bit the bullet and decided to give you all something different to listen to x Thanks Dobbo, Julian, Roba and Chez for the points so far (and I guess 2 other mystery points yet to be announced).
