Actually surprised I managed to get that close to 2nd, Botanikka felt like they dominated this year much more than I did.

Will aim to put together some more EOY stuff in the coming days but for now have quickly knocked together an update of the history of EOY positions for countries that entered this year.

 

Well done to the following with new EOY peaks:

- Danæviia (7th to 4th)

- Trifoski (7th to 6th)

- Taahino (12th to 8th)

- POPHub (23rd to 9th)

- Greenfroze (12th to 10th) - their previous peak dates back to the lists which are not really "end of year" charts but rather my revisionist history lists breaking everything into neat chunks of 10 contests, best they've done since then until this year was 14th, in any case nice at such a veteran nation finally making the EOY top 10 for the first time! and of course Taahino and POPHub have both been going for quite a while before getting there for the first time too x

- Sovarasma (20th to 15th)

- Neliönoir (29th to 18th)

- Ajanaeda (42nd to 24th) - coming back with a bang after not entering at all in the previous 4 calendar years

- Abeltesfayeton (57th to 30th) - come back to us pls etc. xx

- Scotland 2 (43rd to 41st)

- Conoria (73rd to 56th)

- Freedonia (73rd to 63rd)

- Sombrero (85th to 79th) - both years represented by just one DNQ but that was worth a higher nominal position this year than last year with fewer nations making at least one final :kink:

 

Eastovka also match their peak of 48th (as well as Aeroche and Kathaldazia matching their peaks in the top 2).

 

Mothertopia win the battle for the highest debut of the year, only one place ahead of Cheiron which makes it look like a very close battle... but as you can see from the above post there is actually a weirdly big points gap between 39th and 40th for some reason so not as close as it appears x But it was genuinely close between the 3rd and 4th highest debuts which are also only 1 place apart :magic:

So close to matching my peak of 2022 but missed out by one position. :lol:

There have been 8, Mdiče and Qärenfanghoney (or Kopečka as they were known at the time / for most of their existence) are not listed as I only included countries who entered at least once this year in that screenshot. But it is crazy that Aeroche have been EOY #1 8 times and no one else has done it more than twice (FARC and Mdiče did it twice, the rest only once).

I’m happy with 13th, especially after 2 DNQ’s early in the year. Still my 3rd lowest finish ever, so there’s WORK TO DO in 2025.

Well when you put it like that, I kinda slayed x

it might be mild compared to others but getting back into that top 30 is a real achievement for me, being fairly consistent with a couple of big hits is an ideal state of success, gives me room to experiment too.

The poster Medicated Soap (changed to .... years ago, a good sign they're not coming back) hasn't posted on the forum really since 2014 at the latest, I think that's when they last entered.

Oh 38th in the EOY chart that's quite good seeing that every second or third of my entries couldn't even qualify.

In fact this is my second best performance. And also this is the first or maybe the second year where I took part in every competition. I try it next year too :D

 

I already have some potentials already for the next competition :lol:

 

BTW I'm curious in which block I'm counted in? Dance if that exists? :P

Another question will there be a rejects competition? I could take part on it, I had some DNQ that were actually quite good :teresa:
