Gracie back up to 2 apparently with 1.7k gap between her Mariah (3) and Tom (4) according to the OCC, interesting that the don't mention how far ahead Wham is though
I hope the gap between Gracie and Wham! is small so she can have a chance of overtaking them on Friday

We'll get the sales update from Music Week tonight. Still think Wham are too far ahead by now
I think the fact it isn't mentioned tells you that Wham are likely to be further ahead than they were yesterday otherwise the OCC would be building the suspense.

That's what I'm thinking, why mention how close 2 to 4 are not how close they are to number 1 if it's really close

I calculate Gracie is probably gaining 1.7k on Wham yesterday. She was 9k behind so she should get within 5k but no real chance of getting close
It’s hardly a declaration for it being one of the best Christmas tracks but clearly it’s popular and that will be due to media, airplay factors etc which have a heavy influence on the chart positions!

or could be that it is a great, timeless song that people can relate to the lyrics and rhythm. what basically makes a song classic. simple as that...

For all those who don't mind having Last Christmas at #1 every year, just think of those of us who've never liked the song and have had to put up with hearing it for a month on end every year for the last 40 years.

It gets old real fast.

One More Sleep's chart stats sadden me.

It's peaked lower every year since 2018.

It deserves so much more!!

Still incredible for Gracie if she gets number 2 behind a song which is on every Christmas playlist and benefits from the UK public and particularly older listeners being so stuck in their ways with what they listen to. Nothing against Last Christmas as it’s an all-time classic for a reason and was amazing seeing it finally land Christmas number one, but even Pogues, Brenda or Mariah got it one year rather than Wham for eternity.

If anything proves what a smash That’s So True and hopefully stops any dissing of Gracie this should be it, that it has fought against the tide of Christmas songs along with Apt and Messy!

last week on Spotify True did >1 million more than Wham one ACR applied so it's all down to Alexa's shennanigans why Wham was #1 last week, it shouldn't have if the OCC had the brains to investigate how Alexa works.

Fri: True 550K Wham 726/2=363K, True +183K

Sat: True 481K Wham 948/2=474K, True +10K

Sun: True 459K Whan 869/2=434K, True +25K

Mon: True 532K Wham 601/2=300K, True +232K

Tue: True 548K Wham 623/2=311K , True +237K

Wed: True 558K Wham 640/2=320K, True +238K

Thu: True 558K Wham 685/2=342K, True +216K

>1.1 million advantage

Let's see this week. At least this week Wham have physicals. but so far. True is doing better:

Fri: True 586K Wham 782/2=391K, True +195K

Sat: True 557K Wham 942/2=471K, True +86K

Sun: True 510K Whan 860/2=430K, True +80K

Mon: True 583K Wham 661/2=315K, True +268K

Tue: True 589K Wham 693/2=346K , True +243K

True has done 892K more than Wham with 2 days to go

It shouldn't have if the OCC had the brains to investigate how Alexa works.

Already ranted about this in the streaming thread but Amazon is GENUINELY VERY POPULAR at Christmas moreso than any other time of the year. I honestly believe there's no shenanigans other than them aggressively pushing their originals when asked by the GP to play Christmas songs. If they were so desperate for their original song to hit number 1 they would not inflate the streams of the other tracks, it makes no sense

yeah to put it simply Wham is 170k better than last week 85k after ACR

Gracie is 254k better so 170k gain on wham. If trends continue then about 250k for the week which is about 1800 sales. So if everything else was the same as last week then Gracie would be #1. Of course everything isn’t the same. Wham have a lot more downloads, physicals and probably a slight Amazon increase

You’re presenting one piece of the puzzle with the Spotify data and then talking as though it’s the full puzzle. And of course we don’t even have the full Spotify picture; only the raw numbers which are a mix of premium and free streams. Younger listeners tend to be more likely to not have premium accounts, and I suspect Gracie will have a higher proportion of free streams than Wham! We’ve already seen that when Gracie was doing well over 600k per day on Spotify it converted to 54k chart sales at the most. That suggests both a higher reliance on Spotify than the average song and a poorer premium conversion rate than the average song.

To the extent that the #1 would be different based on Spotify numbers alone, I’m not sure if the argument is that Spotify deserves to have a monopoly on the charts because it’s the only one of the main audio streaming platforms that releases its figures to the public. Well I’m rather glad Spotify doesn’t have a monopoly and a wide range of platforms contribute.

Enough with these conspiracy theories! That's So True would be nowhere near #1 if not for ACR, a rule even worse than airplay on the charts.

Yeah it’s obvious that a lot of people with prime who don’t usually listen to music or have a subscription ask Alexa to play Christmas songs every weekend before Christmas. It’s not that surprising or hard to figure out
