No snippet of "The Night We Met" either. Can't say I've ever heard it out in the wild, mustn't be a song many radio stations have on their systems. Definitely not on ours!

don't think it ever got a radio push

it's just one of those songs that went viral on TikTok multiple times over the years

originally got popular from the Netflix show 13 Reasons Why

Biography

The country world feigned surprise when, after three albums of Music Row-indebted songcraft, Taylor Swift formally embraced pop on 2012’s Red. But no one should have been shocked: Any 14-year-old capable of persuading her parents to move from suburban Pennsylvania to Nashville for her career clearly has ambition to burn. And the thrill of following Swift’s rise has been watching her execute it flawlessly, largely because her melodic intelligence is equal to that ambition. Her early, youthful love songs heralded 2010's newly self-possessed Speak Now—which showed off her scathing wit—and evolved into knowing, ironclad pop fare that held its own against boisterous Max Martin production on 1989, her fifth album, titled after her birth year. Throughout, her songwriting has blurred the lines between the public and private, burying enough real-life clues (about, say, scarves and Starbucks) to make clear that only Swift can own her narrative, thank you very much, while still retaining a lyrical elegance. Though 2017’s reputation might have been perceived as a gorgeously constructed piece of dramatic theater—its attendant heroes and villains all real-life characters from Swift's public feuds—all that spectacle proved an attention-grabbing cover for her most romantic album yet. She turned up the romance even more on 2019’s Lover, but it was 2020’s folklore and its companion, evermore—ruminative, relatively lo-fi albums written and recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic—that earned her the Apple Music Award for Songwriter of the Year. She followed those up in 2022 with Midnights, which she wrote and produced with Jack Antonoff, and described as "the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life." In 2023, Swift undertook one of the most ambitious road shows of all time: the multi-year Eras Tour, which saw her presenting new and classic material across more than 100 locales worldwide. It was just one of many reasons she was named Apple Music's Artist of the Year for 2023. Swift returned to the soft, comfortable, bed-like sonics of Midnights for her 11th album, 2024’s THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. A study in extremes and heightened emotions, the record—which features guest turns from Post Malone and Florence + the Machine—is her most specific, candid, and unsparing work to date. - Apple Music

'Viva La Vida' is as great as ever. 'LUNCH' did its job I guess, it's OK.

Last year I said 'Anti-Hero' was by far the best thing Taylor has done since 2021 - well that still stands with much more alongside it now.

Biography

Even when the mood dips, you can expect Dua Lipa’s euphoric pop to land back on the bright side eventually. “I’ve always seen the positive side of things, of being able to grow and move forward and change your perspective regardless of what’s happening in your life,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in 2024. Empowerment for both herself and for other women has always been central to the blockbuster singer-songwriter. Born in London to Kosovar Albanian parents in 1995, Lipa immediately stood out with her 2017 self-titled debut, thanks to the triumphant breakup smash “New Rules,” the self-love anthem “IDGAF,” and the assured “Hotter Than Hell”—making it clear that this was no ingénue, but rather an outspoken, effortlessly cool face of pop’s future. Making history as the first female solo artist to receive five BRIT Award nominations, Lipa soon added several Grammy Awards to her mantelpiece and jumped dramatically to the next level with 2020’s Future Nostalgia, a uniting force of positivity released at the dawn of global lockdowns. Her breezy confidence has made her a versatile collaborator with everyone from DJ superstar Calvin Harris to country singer Chris Stapleton, and her Barbie-inspired 2023 hit “Dance the Night” built naturally upon the savvy disco revisionism of Future Nostalgia. By the time of 2024’s Radical Optimism, Lipa had her absolute pick of creative partners—and she chose Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, whom she had fantasized about working with ever since being “completely shook” by Tame’s 2015 opus Currents. Also in the mix were songwriting guns Tobias Jesso Jr. and Caroline Ailin and a timely assemblage of inventive producers. If Radical Optimism is more textured and nuanced than Future Nostalgia, singles like “Houdini” and “Illusion” retain the glide and snap of classic dance pop, while the lyrics probe deeper into her own personal experience. That gives Lipa’s newer material a mounting sense of being forged in the fire of heartbreak and healing, bringing the unmistakable glint of honesty to diva-level pop radiance like “Falling Forever.” - Apple Music

'Training Season' is my favourite of the 2024 releases on the show so far - great stuff from Dua, if only the whole album was on this level.
Just realised how she pronounces arrow as "are-row". Never noticed that!

I do quite enjoy Training Season

Dua is going to have a lot of work and sound recalibration to do with the next album to remain as a pop A-lister I feel though

Biography

“I think there’s a time in every artist’s life [when] they have to do something that isn’t for fans, isn’t for success, isn’t for touring,” Miley Cyrus once told Apple Music. Cyrus could have been speaking about any number of moments from her profoundly varied career. Born Destiny Hope Cyrus—the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus—in Tennessee in 1992, the innovative artist leaped to stardom as Disney’s Hannah Montana on the strength of perky, empowering bubblegum pop. Since then, Cyrus has worked hard to shed her wholesome teen image, securing a reputation for an intense work ethic and an unshakable self-assuredness. Her 2009 summer anthem “Party In the U.S.A.” earned her credibility in the pop world, while 2013’s Bangerz—which showcased her musical maturity with “Wrecking Ball” and experimented with elements of Dirty South hip-hop—made her an icon. Cyrus headed to other fields with 2015’s Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, a psych-tinged collaboration with members of The Flaming Lips; 2017’s Younger Now, a countrified pop offering that featured godmother Dolly Parton; and 2020’s Plastic Hearts, a neon-hued explosion of disco, synth-pop, and glam rock that features rockers Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks. Those frequent partnerships helped cement her as a pop pace-setter—but on the 2023 smash “Flowers,” a highlight of the breezy Endless Summer Vacation, Cyrus declared her independence and confidently reaffirmed that she’s more than capable of standing on her own. - Apple Music

Biography

“I never really think, ‘OK, I’m going to write a song,’” Lewis Capaldi told Apple Music. “My creative process is basically: I sit down with a guitar and or at the piano, and I just start to write.” But the amazing thing about Capaldi is that he’s become one of the most popular young artists of his generation by preserving his songs in that raw, unvarnished state, to provide the purest representation of the pain and longing coursing through his lyrics. Amid the hyper-paced, totally wired world of late-2010s pop, this unassuming Scottish singer-songwriter and former Up Next artist—born 1996 in Glasgow—stopped the internet dead in its tracks with his DIY 2017 single “Bruises”, a stark, piano-based breakup ballad that introduced a voice imbued with the sort of soulful grit and deeply felt heartache you wouldn’t expect from a baby-faced 21-year-old. “Bruises” was Capaldi’s ticket to international major-label deals and tours opening for pop A-listers like Sam Smith and Niall Horan, but he would swiftly join their ranks with his equally rustic 2018 single “Someone You Loved”, another tear-jerking expression of sorrow—inspired by the death of his grandmother—that went to No. 1 in the US and UK, and has since become one of the most-streamed songs of all time. Those singles formed the foundation of Capaldi’s chart-topping full-length debut, 2019’s Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, which fleshes out his sound with lush orchestration and gospel gravitas but, through songs like the suicide-themed “Before You Go”, retains his fearless flair for dredging up the messiest of emotions. - Apple Music

Biography

Kenya Grace is a South African-born British singer whose sleek fusion of club-driven pop and drum'n'bass won her a mainstream audience in the early 2020s. Biography

The Blessed Madonna is the divine alias of Marea Stamper, the Kentucky-born, London-based DJ, producer, and label owner revered for her rapturous fusions of techno, disco, and electro. Stamper found community selling party gear and mixtapes at local raves as a teenager, and later cutting her teeth as a radio DJ at the University of Louisville. She relocated to Chicago, where she became resident DJ at the nightlife haven Smartbar and spearheaded the city’s Daphne Festival, which put a much-needed spotlight on women and non-binary DJs. Stamper's first original release in 2012, “Alright This Morning,” melded disco and Chicago house, laying the foundation for her acclaimed 2016 breakthrough, “He Is the Voice I Hear.” She moved to London following a sold-out 13-week run at XOYO nightclub in 2017, launched her record label We Still Believe in 2018, and was later tapped to helm Dua Lipa's 2020 LP Club Future Nostalgia, where she worked with the likes of Missy Elliott, Jamiroquai, and the other Madonna. - Apple Music
