Yay that we got Sprinter over Band4Band as the Central Cee track of choice even if it’s the older hit too on the basis of good taste

Biography

To some extent, Kings of Leon have been preparing for the rigors of being a touring rock band from birth: Three-fourths of the Nashville group—brothers Caleb, Nathan, and Jared Followill—had a nomadic childhood, traveling the South with their Pentecostal preacher father. But after linking with guitarist cousin Matthew to form Kings of Leon in 1999, the Followills found yet another advantage to their upbringing: Their natural familial rivalries galvanized their creativity. “There’s something that keeps you going and keeps pushing you, especially when you’re in a band with your family,” Caleb told Apple Music in 2016. “We’re very competitive and we push each other.” Deemed the Southern Strokes upon the release of their 2003 debut, Youth And Young Manhood, the quartet evolved from swaggering rock ’n’ roll to a keyboard-dappled sound on 2008's Only By the Night. They didn’t lose their rough-and-tumble vibe—for proof, check out the brisk, brawny riffs of “Sex On Fire”—but a turn toward delicacy on the yearning ballad “Use Somebody,” highlighted by Caleb’s world-weary vocals, led them to mainstream success, plus a Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 2010. The Followills solidified their newly anthemic sound with singles rooted in soulful pop (“Radioactive”) and harmony-heavy rock (the U2-esque “Waste a Moment”) before taking a nearly five-year break. Upon their return in 2021, Kings of Leon sounded lean, loose, and in the mood for experimentation. The resulting album, When You See Yourself, boasted some of the sparest songwriting of their career. On 2024’s follow-up, Can We Please Have Fun, Kings of Leon hooked up with producer Kid Harpoon (Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus) for a set of tunes that reimagine the garage-rock rawness of the act’s early years for a modern pop audience. - Apple Music

Biography

Sabrina Carpenter has made the transition from teen-TV star to pop-dominating force look remarkably easy. It helps that the actor and singer-songwriter—born in 1999 in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania—pursued both sides of her career in tandem, releasing music while establishing a regular presence on the Disney Channel and through other acting gigs, including on Broadway. And on her first two albums—2015’s Eyes Wide Open and 2016’s EVOLution—Carpenter set herself apart from her teenage peers with her deft delivery and her eagerness to embrace plenty of dance music sounds. Singular Act I and Singular Act II—a two-part album that dropped in 2018 and 2019—provided yet more proof of her fast-developing abilities as a singer and songwriter who had moved past teen-star stereotypes to become a full-fledged club powerhouse. Later, Carpenter stepped back sonically to express herself more personally, as on the intimately acoustic “skinny dipping,” from her fifth album, emails i can’t send. Still, the sheer fun of it all has never waned. Just listen to one of the many ad-libbed outros in her live performances of the album’s pop hit “Nonsense,” or indeed the lyrical playfulness of “Espresso,” the flirty funk banger that became summer 2024’s defining hit—and which provided Carpenter’s official breakout moment. Next came the Jack Antonoff-produced “Please Please Please” (which became the summer’s second-biggest hit) and her sixth record Short n’ Sweet, a showcase of the most winking, witty music of Carpenter’s career so far. But if it saw the newly crowned pop princess take aim at past relationships, it also saw her take aim at herself. “A lot of what I really love about this album is the accountability,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “I will call myself out just as much as I will call out someone else.” - Apple Music

Biography

Not everyone gets famous as a teenager—and even fewer escape the experience intact. So congratulations to Harry Styles, who would’ve been fine had he retired after One Direction but instead went on to become one of the more interesting and adventurous pop stars of his era. “I think there’s a lot of things that used to feel like, Okay, there’s a part of your life, then there’s a hard stop, then there’s a next part of your life,” he told Apple Music around the release of 2022’s Grammy-winning Harry’s House. “Things that used to feel so unbelievably foreign to me, sort of terrifying—like, I’m not 19 anymore, so I’m less terrified. And realizing [life’s] just one thing, and not chapter over, bye-bye.” Perspective: It helps, whether you’re out there in front of 50,000 people or performing the very first Apple Music Live session. Part of what made One Direction great was that they never shied away from the pleasures of boy-band pop but never patronized their audiences, either: Never mind the no-dancing policy; they wrote their own songs and cultivated their own musical perspectives. Beyond his precision-tooled indie-curious pastiche of classic pop, soft-rock, psychedelia, and soul, Styles’ lyrics capture a playfulness and emotional specificity that feels unusual for pop so big, whether it’s the flirtation of “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” (“Green eyes/Fried rice/I could cook an egg on you”) or the image of a kid outrunning an unhappy home on “Matilda” (“You were riding your bike to the sound of ‘It’s No Big Deal’”). That life he’s pontificating about? Listen to the music and you can almost hear him living it. - Apple Music

Biography

Coldplay isn’t only one of the most popular English bands but also a torchbearer for an art-rock sound whose roots reach back through Radiohead, U2, Pink Floyd, and The Beatles. Yes, the music is anthemic enough to fill arenas—“Clocks,” “Speed of Sound,” “Paradise,” “A Sky Full of Stars”—but detailed and atmospheric, too, stretching the conventions of modern rock without ever losing the emotional thread. Formed in London in the late ’90s, the band debuted with 2000’s Parachutes. Seasons have changed—the arty experiments of 2008’s Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, the electro rush of 2011’s Mylo Xyloto, the eclecticism of 2019’s Everyday Life—but the core of its sound has been consistent: Propulsive, uplifting, grand but vulnerable. In step with the earnest spirit of its music, the band has also poured considerable resources into philanthropy: performing at Live 8, sponsoring Ocean Cleanup efforts, and notably investing in renewable energy to power 2021's Music of the Spheres World Tour. Whether in crowded bars, lonely bedrooms, closing out the London 2012 Summer Olympics, or headlining the Super Bowl 50 four years later, the effect is more or less the same: At the end of the day, Coldplay comes for the heart. - Apple Music

Biography

When singer-songwriter Billie Eilish feels something new, the first thing she does is take out her phone and write it down. “You can write anything,” she told Apple Music in an interview for the Up Next series in 2018. “You can say the truth, and you cannot tell anyone that it’s the truth—you can just write it, and it’ll be yours.” Raised and homeschooled in Los Angeles by actor/musician parents, Eilish (born Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell in 2001) started writing songs when she was around 11, exploring a strain of melancholy, minimal, and slightly surrealistic pop influenced as much by Lana Del Rey as the radical honesty of rappers like Tyler, The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt. Writing and recording with her brother—and producer—FINNEAS at their parents’ house, Eilish released dont smile at me in 2017, graduating directly from her bedroom to the spotlight. Hardly two years later, she’d released the Grammys-slaying WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?, an experimental-pop opus exploring mental health and totally upending notions of what constitutes pop music in 2020. (She also won the inaugural Apple Music Award for Global Artist of the Year and performed an Apple Music Live session at London’s O2 Arena in 2022.) Despite the attention, Eilish has done her best to stake out a space of freedom and fluidity, dodging easy definition. Her 2021 album Happier Than Ever saw her chart a further path of self-discovery, after which 2023’s Academy Award-winning ballad “What Was I Made For?” felt downright existential and the 2024 single “LUNCH” openly radiated queer desire. For an artist who has always seemed like she’s whispering closely guarded secrets into our ears, Eilish’s songwriting only seems to be growing more personal. “This is the most ‘me’ thing I’ve ever made,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about 2024’s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT. “And purely me—not a character.” - Apple Music

Biography

Born in 1990 in the small Irish town of Bray, Andrew John Hozier-Byrne—better known as Hozier—was first heard in the company of others, contributing his preternaturally powerful voice to Ireland’s renowned Trinity Orchestra and choral troupe Anúna. But where those early pursuits immersed him in his country’s rich musical traditions, his first single as a solo artist took aim at its most formidable institution. Few debut tracks come out swinging as hard as “Take Me to Church”, a doomy anti-gospel sermon that sets its crosshairs on the hectoring and hypocrisies of the Catholic Church, delivered in a commanding, corrupted-choir-boy voice imbued with equal doses of grace and grit. That striking single topped charts worldwide and scored Hozier a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year. Still, the self-titled debut album it introduced also showcased a singer-songwriter with a deft command of sweet soulful rockers (“Someone New”) and dreamy folk reveries (“Like Real People Do”). The dichotomy between rage and romanticism would only become more pronounced on 2019’s Wasteland Baby!, where some of Hozier’s prettiest performances to date (like the delicate finger-picked hymn “Shrike”) rub up against the righteous fury of “Nina Cried Power”, a spirited, Mavis Staples-assisted protest anthem that took him back to church to further rattle the steeple. The flames of protest burned on with “Swan Upon Leda”, a stirring prayer for women’s rights inspired by Egyptian feminist Mona Eltahawy and the Mahsa Amini protests in Iran. But all roads ultimately lead back home, and Hozier's next album, Unreal Unearth, centred Irish folklore and language across sprawling, searing tracks “Butchered Tongue” and “Eat Your Young”, collaged together with motifs from Dante's Inferno. In 2024, Hozier reminded fans that for every solemn paean, he can still pen a grizzled, hip-swivelling earworm, this time in the form of “Too Sweet”, a bluesy sinner's anthem that raced up the charts and proved his earlier successes were no mere miracle. - Apple Music

'As It Was' still exists (and is decent).

'Yellow' is still Coldplay's best song.

'WILDFLOWER' did well to get this high.

'Take Me To Church'

And now they start with the snippets??? I was going to do that on mine

Love "Take Me To Church" but again this didn't need a play
