  • Predicting a TikTok resurgence for ‘Golden Brown’ has to be the most impressive prediction @Jade !

  • Yeah I'm not sure the fake chart counts in these predictions but she went number 1 on the actual chart anyway

One Direction, including Zayn, play one night at Wembley Stadium as a tribute to Liam

Ed Sheeran will release a new pop album but it will be his least successful bar Autumn Variations

Drake will not have a top 10 single

Rihanna won't release an album

A song breaks the record for most weeks at number 2 without reaching number one

Chappell Roan has her first number one single

Oasis release a new single in March which goes top 5 with big physical sales, they play one show then break up immediately

UK Rap will likely have a better year than this year - might get a couple Jerk songs charting. Central Cee will continue his success streak with 1 or 2 big single releases but outside of him the UK Drill sound will be close to nonexistent

“Afro”house will spawn a couple big hits

Far more of this years YE top 40 sticks around to make the year end list than compared to last year

Continued domination of Country music - if Morgan Wallen drops an album I wouldn’t be surprised if it produces 1 or 2 year end songs

Drake doesn’t touch the weekly top 50

Sabrina Carpenter may release an EP that produces at least one more huge hit

I don’t know if Taylor is planning to release another Taylor’s version but if she does, one of the songs will debut at number 1

The US rap that crosses over will be more likely to be inspired by West Coast sounds thanks to Not Like Us’ success. Playboi Carti will have an even bigger year than this year too

Dave releases his third album and even if it’s big it’s reception won’t be as warm as the first two.

Also the charts will likely be even more stagnant than this year, who could prompt an occ rule change

I don’t think they will, but if Oasis do release a new single next year it will absolutely go to #1 - no physical sales required!

JADE will "do a 2009 Black Eyed Peas-US Chart domination" and 'IT girl' will be number 1 until 'FUFN' is released which will be number 1 until the 4th single is launched mid Summer and will get the fastest selling female studio album of all time.

Pretty conservative prediction for these... I can see them go top ten easily when they release.

Pretty conservative prediction for these... I can see them go top ten easily when they release.

Twigs’ last two releases here missed the top 20 and 40 respectively so didn’t want to aim tooo high (I know CAPRISONGS was billed as a mixtape, so that’s why I thought she would be back in the top 40 now) but would love to see it as the material is great so far.

I actually forgot that Laurel Hell went top 10 as well as Mitski’s last album so yeah hopefully top 10 should be doable for her once more, but at least I’m covered if her next release is a surprise #11 or something :’)

Alright, here we go....

- KSI returns with a hilariously bad UK #1 album

- Mac Miller posthumously scores his first top five album with 'Balloonerism'

- #1 albums for: Robbie Williams, Franz Ferdinand, Manic Street Preachers, Inhaler, Doves, Sam Fender, Lady Gaga, James Arthur & The Lathums in Q1

- Lana Del Rey will delay her upcoming studio album

- Ed Sheeran will return with his "big pop album" but thankfully it will only be as commercially successful as '-'

- Sam Fender sells 70K+ with 'People Watching + he scores the Christmas #1 with an Amazon Original

- Miley Cyrus returns but without a smash hit a la 'Flowers'

- We finally receive 'Don't Be Dumb' and 'I AM MUSIC' by A$AP Rocky and Playboi Carti respectively.

  • 4 weeks later...

A little bit late at party, but here are my predix after some analysis:

  • Both Scottish-Italian singer LAVINIA and Austrian dance/electronic producer Ely Oaks, following their remix of Sigma Boy, will EACH get their first ever Top 100 on a brand new dance song.
  • With the current Monstercat, the imprint will return to Top 100 for the first time since Marshmello - Alone.
  • There will be just one non-UK Eurovision song peaking at Top 40.
  • Nate Smith will become the newest addition of country singers that entered Top 40.
  • The 'stolen' 2 Times remix will debut at low Top 100.
  • At least one new dance/electronic album (that is not made by charli xcx) will debut at Top 40.
  • David Guetta will finally have a collaboration with either Sophie Ellis-Bextor or Ellie Goulding.
  • Troye Sivan will do another collaboration with Lauv.
  • A Japanese hip-hop artist will get another Top 100.
  • Tom Grennan will return to Top 40 with a new, non-Christmas, song.
  • An EDM Golden Era song (2011-2015) will get a chart resurgence for whatever reason.
  • yung kai will debut at low Top 100.
Impacts from films:

  • One of Elvis' songs will get a chart resurgence following the upcoming Lilo & Stitch.
  • Coldplay will return to Top 40 after the new Karate Kid film airs.
  • The F1 Official Theme will debut at low Top 100.
Possible remakes/covers/samples of classics that will get a Top 100:

  • Babylon Zoo - Spaceman
  • Guru Josh - Infinity
  • Robert Miles - Fable
  • Sash! - Ecuador
  • Daddy DJ - Daddy DJ (Basshunter - All I Ever Wanted)
  • Madonna - Ray Of Light

He did, and it was!

He had 2 unfortunately

She didn't but she did release a new song this year

Without ACR APT would've done so I believe but otherwise this did not happen

No new music from Oasis and they somehow managed to get through the entire tour.

Not great!

Reflecting on my predictions:

- JADE will return to the top 40 with a Stormzy collab and achieve a top 5 album

TRUE + FAIL - some of these things happened: JADE returned to the top 40 singles chart, her album did chart in the top 5 and Stormzy was in her orbit... as she covered 'Backbone' for the Live Lounge, but her top 40 return was with 'FUFN', not a Stormzy collab, so a partially flop prediction

- FKA twigs will score a top 40 album

TRUE - I certainly could've aimed higher with this, but ultimately, the gist was her returning to the top 40 after missing with CAPRISONGS and indeed she did *.*

- Ethel Cain will achieve a top 20 album

TRUE - Willoughby Tucker I'll Always Love You made #12 *.* and that Preacher's Daughter physical release went top 10!

- Lana Del Rey will achieve a #1 album with The Right Person Will Stay and she'll also score a new top 40 hit

TRUE + FAIL - 'Henry, Come On' charted in the top 40 but in true Lana fashion she didn't release the album and has since changed its name lol

- Ariana Grande's original song in Wicked: For Good (song title currently TBA) will achieve a top 10 peak and title track 'For Good' will reach the top 20

TRUE + FAIL - 'The Girl In The Bubble' was a bit of a non-event in the end oops but 'For Good' did go top 20!

- Laufey will achieve a non-festive top 40 (I promise this popped into my head as well before reading this thread )

FAIL - her top 40 history remains chained to Christmas

- Dave will return and achieve a #1 album

TRUE - and what an album it was 😍

- SOFIA ISELLA will achieve a first top 40 single

FAIL - unfortunately the Eras tour support slot was not a golden ticket to chart success

- The Weeknd will achieve a #1 album and a new top 10 hit

TRUE - Hurry Up Tomorrow went to #1 and spawned multiple top 10s

- Lorde will return and achieve a top 3 album

TRUE - again could've aimed higher with #1 but was still within the top 3 *.*

- Isabel LaRosa will achieve a first top 40 hit

FAIL - sadly no breakout moment for her

- Sam Fender will achieve a #1 album and a new top 10 hit

TRUE - yep with People Watching and 'Rein Me In' respectively

- Manic Street Preachers will achieve a #1 album

FAIL - nope, unfortunately stalled at #2!

- TV Girl will achieve a top 40 hit

FAIL - another flop break out prediction x

- Heartworms' debut album will chart in the top 100

FAIL - this didn't quite happen either

- This year's U.K. Eurovision entry will mark a return to the top 40

TRUE - Remember Monday indeed returned the U.K. Eurovision act to the top 40! Redeemed myself after my flop prediction of Olly Alexander going to #1 lol

- Tate McRae will achieve a top 10 album

TRUE - yesss she performed as well as #2!

- The Horrors will achieve a top 15 album

FAIL - they reached... #16 lol noooooo!

- EKKSTACY will achieve a top 75 hit

FAIL - one day, his music still sounds TikTok-ready to me

- ROSALÍA will drop a new album and it'll be her first to chart in the top 40 here

TRUE - SO pleased this one happened and she outdid my wildest expectations with top 5 <3

- Mitski will drop a new album and chart in the top 20

FAIL - nope, a quiet year for Mitski

- Harry Styles will return and achieve a #1 single

FAIL - seemingly predicted this a year too early

- MUNA will achieve a first top 40 single

FAIL - still no MUNA in the top 40 singles chart

- Taylor Swift will release Reputation (TV) and break 180k+ sales

FAIL - Taylor blasted past those sales but not for Reputation (TV)

- beabadoobee will record an Amazon Exclusive Christmas song

FAIL - Did not see Kylie Minogue coming *.*

- A Fiona Apple song will take off on TikTok and chart in the top 75

FAIL - if only my alt stab in the dark was Imogen Heap instead x

- The Stranglers - 'Golden Brown' will get a TikTok-fuelled resurgence, who knows why, but let's roll with it

TRUE - a bit shook that this actually did happen, had a TikTok moment and appeared in the U.K. Spotify chart for the first time *.*

- The xx will return with a #1 album (obligatory inclusion every year until it happens)

FAIL - once again still no new album from them aw x

- Lola Young will spend time in the top 40 this year with at least three different songs

TRUE - yep she's featured in 2025 charts with 'Like Him', 'Messy', 'One Thing' and 'd£aler'!

- BLACKPINK will finally break the dry spell of girl-group hits (the last one was 'Cupid' in 2023) and return with a top 40 placing.

TRUE + FAIL - BLACKPINK did reach the top 40 with 'JUMP' but Remember Monday got there first!

- Charli xcx will waste no time keeping up the Brat momentum and will drop a brand new album, it will chart top 5 and spawn at least one top 40 single

FAIL - no new album yet although I guess 'party 4 u' and 'Chains Of Love' were new top 40s in general

- Chappell Roan will achieve a #1 single

TRUE - not just one but two *.*

Overall I'm pretty happy with that but a poor year for breakout predictions! Chappell remains a fluke lol

2023* haha

Oops I think I had 2 on the brain due to the two year drought going into 2025 lol but yes, you're right.
