I was wondering if anyone would be interested in looking at this (or maybe it’s just me)? In the streaming era the EOY chart has appeared heavily biased towards songs released/peaking in the first ha

Just had a go at a full top 40, week 14 2024 to week 13 2025. You're pretty much bang on with your sales estimates, just had to change Hot To Go (it would've done a few sales in 2023 so its total woul

Has Mr Brightside by the Killers outsold Last Christmas by Wham! yet?

I would think it’s ahead atm, no way Wham! have sold 120k since week 1 of the year

Any chance of Shape Of You being overthrown as the most consumed song ever by Last Christmas, Mr. Brightside, or Do They Know It's Christmas by the end of the year?

Wham! and the Killers will definitely overtake - I think Mr. Brightside will be the first song to 11x platinum. Band Aid should get past as well, but difficult to know what sales that will manage this year.

Julian might have a better estimate than me for Shape of You, but I’d guess ~6.45m

Think we got a figure of 6.35 million for “Shape Of You” around last August, a year after it reached 6 million. So I’d have thought it would have passed 6.5 million now unless it’s really slowed down. Will be fascinating to see which of that and Mr B gets to 11x platinum first. My money’s still on SOY.

"back to friends" should enter the YTD next week, I'd predict "505" to drop straight back out.

"Sorry I'm Here for Someone Else" and "Tell Me" will be close next week but I don't think they'll make it til the week after.

"Arm's Length", "Chasing Cars" and "GBP" will be in trouble then, I think "Don't Stop Me Now"'s sales have picked up enough to keep it safe for now.

Please could I have positions for Riptide, Sex on Fire and Naive @Julian_

Also on a side note that despite being #66 here, "The Giver" is still yet to enter the top 100 on the Spotify YTD (Currently #108 between "I Remember Everything" and "She Moves in Her Own Way"). It won't enter the top 100 there til week 21 at the earliest!

I'm probably underestimating Back To Friends (I have it on 133k) but I think Sorry I'm Here (on 150k) will enter before it. Also Tell Me (on 136k) will be a quite a bit away from the YTD next week but will probably enter in 3 weeks time

Oh wow - Our predictions are wildly different.

I have back to friends and Tell Me both on 147k and Sorry I'm Here for Someone Else on 146k.

Not sure how we could have a 11k difference on Tell Me, maybe I've double counted a week at some point.

Yeah would agree with Tell Me, after a recount I think I missed a week. No clue how Back To Friends was doing before it charted so it definitely could go either way. Still feel pretty confident with my Sorry I'm Here estimate tho

The only one of those I have worked out at the moment is “Sorry I’m Here…” which I have on 149k, so I was thinking it might just miss next week.

Previous week - latest week:

Sex On Fire 65-65

Riptide 68-68

Naïve 83-80

Thank you, wasn't sure which of Sex on Fire or Riptide was above The Giver (I guessed wrong)

Either Back To Friends or Sorry I'm Here... entering this week, can't see both getting in unless Chasing Cars has being doing really badly. 505 will drop out for sure

I haven’t tried to work out “Back To Friends” but I’m getting identical figures for “Sorry I’m Here…” and “Tell Me”

"Ordinary" should be at #3 now, with roughly 733k units. "That's So True" should be at #4.
