January 26Jan 26 Author Here is my post not about US specifically but about Robbie or Take That treasure in history. Just look at the official The Beatles website and choose Stories link in the menu: https://www.thebeatles.com/ That's HOW need to work. The Beatles have more news or 'news' per month than Robbie or Take That combined per year. So, back to the movie - it's not a mistake of movie itself (which is perfect) but all stuff around the events, occasions, releases. Now and then. It's mgmt work what they don't want to do through the years. Because they are too lazy. Maybe I should remind you about merch? So boring everytime... I can do better in a week. Very pity that boys don't have a marketing team/s what follows them in a right way. --- Again, I'm not talking about fresh artists, like Harry, Billy, etc. I'm talking about the band which is not here for ~50 years. Old Best of Elton John has 10x times more streamings on Spotify than Robbie's new OST. What? Yes, just check out their last two releases and compare. Come on!!! Just remind you Spotify is not US instrument, it's Swedish. And what? Where is Better Man logo on FC Barcelona jerseys like Coldplay had? Everybody likes to repeat BETTER MAN has a big budget. THANKS GOD. This is my answer. Finally they have had a good money to make a great product, otherwise you get Morning Sun video. But what about all work around? Who will do that? Fans? Well, then I'm not surprised when Rob says his Thanks to fans, getting 15th Number 1 award. Because only fans and him do a good job in my opinion. --- Maybe Nigel wasn't a good guy but his fresh ideas in marketing is what both them need now. And for that they need new people in their staff, more modern and young people otherwise ordinary listeners will count them like arts from 90s. Robbie's team was VERY creative but they forgot how to do that 10+ years ago. I'm so angry today! I know that. I just really think because of this lazy work Take That and Robbie look like underrated ones nowadays.
January 26Jan 26 I entirely support what you say, Alex. Rob himself always took breaks if he had not to promote stuff as he said by himself. When he was in his imperial phase this was even a good way to make you rare so that you are not overexposed. But things changed: He is not in his imperial phase anymore since 15 years. He has little new music out and what he did in between and was really good like the Avicii song or the song with the Struts was not promoted good enough. Plus, since social media took over you need to be present. We thought he was with his instgram stories etcetera. But it had been fans watching this, not the general public. You see in any sales of concert tickets that they sell out at the end but while the fans buy cards it takes far more time to sell out with the general public. The Better Man movie promo was the first good and very intense promo for years. If there could have been better strategic moves is another question. What they have forgotten though is that aside of the fans who grew old with Rob little had been done to create bonds with general people, do posts, do stories like you mentioned in our post. Even for huge stars of the moment they need to do a lot of extra work to stay prominent. They have messed through years by not doing anything. I am very sorry for Michael Gracey as he had done an excelent job and while Rob might have a long term profit from this movie, Gracey might have difficulties for the next movie to get fianced.
January 26Jan 26 Author Thanks Liz! Good adding to my thoughts. You did understand me very well. Plus, since social media took over you need to be present. We thought he was with his instgram stories etcetera. But it had been fans watching this, not the general public. This Even for huge stars of the moment they need to do a lot of extra work to stay prominent. They have messed through years by not doing anything. THIS Yes. The work must be continue even when the artist himself on rest - the team does work instead of him during that time. I am very sorry for Michael Gracey as he had done an excelent job and while Rob might have a long term profit from this movie, Gracey might have difficulties for the next movie to get fianced. THIS Same thoughts So again, people say 'not good marketing for Better Man'. Fully disagree with that. The marketing was and is good for Better Man. I'd say 4+/5. But all works around and before is out of words. There was no any work. And THAT's the reason general people think Robbie hasn't released a new music since 2016. (while he released 7 albums since then)
January 26Jan 26 Author What a good news is still there? ;) Well, in 2000 when The Beatles got their 15th Number 1 Album sir Paul McCartney was 58 years and there was no Internet. Robbie got his 15th Number 1 Album at 50 years. Internet is here but let's count it wasn't due to bad marketing works in a recent years. So, there are lot of years to secure his treasure for next decades. But better begin to do that now. More important to ask will be there the right and clever people around him for supporting nowadays? I HOPE yes. Again, same same words about Take That. These two arts have SO great background so it's possible to make a magic for many generations in a row.
January 26Jan 26 This movie is such a good thing that has happened. The promo is fantastic. And will continue to be for months. People are still writing today on some social media this is astroturfing marketing campaign while there are fans writing the comments. I hope he keeps connections to choreographers from better man, that could greatly enhance the live performances. I thought the Graham Norton rock DJ performance was one of the best he has done In years. If it engages the late millennials and gen Z it could bridge a gap to the core fanbase. Fingers crossed 🤞 the movie will a big streaming hit, which was indicated by quite a few people now.
January 26Jan 26 I totally agree with you. Take That disappeared for YEARS before 'This Life' came out in late 2023. Granted Mark and Gary put solo albums out during that time but the team needs to work, day in day out. Nigel was fantastic at this and was always thinking: video/dvd concert releases, co-presenting shows even when they had no single to promote etc, fanzines. Basically keeping touch with their audience internationally. If he could do that in the 90s there is no excuse for not doing so now. In Take That: next steps thread we touched on this and said: Moving forward: Play shows in Africa, South America, and Canada for the first time. If Westlife can do it there in the last 5 years so can TT. Las Vegas residency. (Achieving these would mean all their fans worldwide would have had a chance to see them, and it means they did everything they could to connect with their audience) A joint tour with New Kids on the Block. This has been mentioned over the years by NKOTB. A joint tour with Backstreet Boys and/or a music collaboration. This has been mentioned over the years by BSB. Have an Oscar nominated song. Rule The World was truly robbed that year of a nom and should have gone higher through the shortlist rounds and been nominated. Reintroduce their back catalogue back into the mainstream, most notably through major films and adverts. Backstreet Boys have licensed their music excessively on adverts all around the world. I know Take That do in the UK but it needs to be bigger and broader, 90s songs also. The multiple inclusion in Anora hopefully has shown them the right song in the right film can cause positive word of mouth and streaming. Never Forget, for example, is crying out to be placed in a pivital movie scene. These management teams shop their artists songs to major movie studios in the US. That is how BSB have appeared and had their music in so many films over the past 10-15 years. They showed part of the meetings online. NSYNC likewise. A new original Christmas song to play yearly and become a staple. Continue to release new albums and promote songs. A more creative and engaging online presence including youth platforms, tik tok etc. Backstreet Boys in this week alone (2025) have commerated the anniversary of two tours and put up an iconic boyband dance routine to follow from one of their 90s videos. I would have said a Netflix documentary but that has been confirmed for next year. It would be nice for them to get the footage of them on David Letterman, Today show, MTV USA to remind the US audience of their hit. Plus the fact they were offered a spot on Baywatch, the biggest show in the world at the time. Be like the Americans and remind everyone of all your great stats, music, and achievements. Outstanding contribution to Music Brit Award. This is long overdue. It doesn't help that TT concentrated on just the UK for so long post reunion. That said would their albums have all gone over 2 million plus had attention and travel been elsewhere? It was only once Jason left that they started doing International promotion and tours again, the last 10 years. 11 new countries across Europe and the Middle East and 10 countries reintroduced over 10 years later (if not more) from last touring and promotion there. 21 new or reintroduced nations in the past 10 years. Robbie is fantastic for touring nations and fair play to him. I agree with you about merchandise. Look at Nirvana, they are practically a fashion brand at this point. Different t-shirts everywhere. I often wonder when I see all these shirts worn how anti-commercialism Kurt would have felt about that. With regard to the Beatles website would that just be fans reading those articles? I agree that more need to be produced for Robbie and Take That. Edited January 26Jan 26 by nirvanamusic
January 26Jan 26 It is a delicate balance. They would have been wrong to neglect the UK & Europe for America.
January 27Jan 27 It is a delicate balance. They would have been wrong to neglect the UK & Europe for America. Agree - he's only one man who's 50 years old. He has to keep his core fan base happy too. The strength of his act is his personality which means he needs to be prominent at every event. He couldn't keep up a workload like he did for Better Man -he would kill himself.

January 31Jan 31 Author Yes-yes, and 1 week ago CBS showed a really good interview & etc with Robbie too.
