Following the same structure used in the Dance and Electronic forum, we are going to run the same weekly poll for new pop and country releases in 2025. Each week, 8 new releases are selected to go head to head, with one weekly winner which will then go up against future weekly winners later in the year at the end of each quarter of the year, and then again at the end of the year to determine the ultimate winner of 2025.

Last week's results;

Tate McRae – Sports car [ 13 ] ** [54.17%]

Self Esteem – Focus Is Power [ 3 ] ** [12.50%]

JoJo – Ready To Love [ 2 ] ** [8.33%]

Mabel & King Promise – All Over You [ 2 ] ** [8.33%]

Tom Walker – You'll Get There In The End [ 2 ] ** [8.33%]

Kane Brown & Jelly Roll – Haunted [ 1 ] ** [4.17%]

Lauren Spencer Smith – Pray [ 1 ] ** [4.17%]

Mike Posner – Is It Just Me? [ 0 ] ** [0.00%]

Canadian pop sensation Tate McRae sweeps up this week with the third single from her upcoming album So Close To What. Will it follow It's ok I'm ok and 2 hands into the UK Top 40... time will tell.

Belatedly for last week’s:

1 Tate

2 Self Esteem

3 Kane

The Tate song is quite like Billie’s “Therefore I Am” - certainly the best of the bunch but I

‘ not more than lukewarm on it as yet.

I think the JENNIE song was only released at 5am UK time - if I may make a constructive criticism it might make sense to wait until the daytime to post these threads rather than rushing to get them up right after midnight as it's not going to be uncommon for big pop songs to be 5am releases x

What about Jennie?

probably would've gone for Morgan Wallen or Jennie/Dominic Fike though.

I will admit, I made a slight error when selecting this week. That said, neither of the songs in the above quotes have received any comments upon release so far today, so I don't think there is a huge enthusiasm for those singles.

I will keep in mind the early releases on a Friday morning, but I would expect most of these are known or anticipated before they drop, as they are usually from the biggest artists.

On a side note, I have asked Joseph for the ability to edit my own polls within the genre forums so I can make edits early if I realise I missed something, which could often happen.

Also, I can confirm that the new LISA single coming out next week will be included in the next poll. ;)

My rankings for this week;

1. MØ feat. Biig Piig – SWEET

2. Tom Grennan – Shadowboxing

3. Rascal Flatts feat. Jonas Brothers – I Dare You

4. Zach Bryan – Blue Jean Baby

5. Talia Mar – 365

6. Cat Burns – GIRLS!

7. venbee – this one's different

8. David Kushner – Breathe In Breathe Out

A relatively weak release week overall, but the Top 3 all seem quite decent, and if I had chance to edit in time, I would have substituted venbee for JENNIE in the poll.

Voted David Kushner as he had the only of these tracks I liked more than I expected.

this one's different by far x some of these options tho <_<

would also recommend:

amy michelle - atrophy

BIG WETT - PONY (RIDE ME)

Close call for me between Tom and Cat, but Tom gets my vote (even though it's far from his best)

1 Zach Bryan

2 MØ

3 venbee

4 Rascal Flatts

5 Cat Burns

6 David Kushner

7 Talia Mar

8 Tom Grennan

Playlisting the top 2 ('Blue Jean Baby' isn't quite a top tier Zach song but even his throwaway unfinished demos are good stuff x), the venbee song was decent too, can definitely do without ever hearing any of the others again. The Tom Grennan one was painful to listen to. (Oh at it winning the poll ~)
