Somehow the first song that came to mind for me was Secondcity - I Wanna Feel. It blended in with other hit songs of that year, from what I recall, and didn't stand out in any good or bad way.

Steps - Stomp was fairly typical of the sound of its time, it just got to #1 because it was released in a relatively quiet week.

for me Ordinary means Vanilla basically, which Forever love is :D

And to me, it also means just average - as in "it's not good, not bad, but it'll suffice" - just half and half. Think of it like a 3.5 to 6.5 score rating out of 10.
