Biography

Sabrina Carpenter has made the transition from teen-TV star to pop-dominating force look remarkably easy. It helps that the actor and singer-songwriter—born in 1999 in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania—pursued both sides of her career in tandem, releasing music while establishing a regular presence on the Disney Channel and through other acting gigs, including on Broadway. And on her first two albums—2015’s Eyes Wide Open and 2016’s EVOLution—Carpenter set herself apart from her teenage peers with her deft delivery and her eagerness to embrace plenty of dance music sounds. Singular Act I and Singular Act II—a two-part album that dropped in 2018 and 2019—provided yet more proof of her fast-developing abilities as a singer and songwriter who had moved past teen-star stereotypes to become a full-fledged club powerhouse. Later, Carpenter stepped back sonically to express herself more personally, as on the intimately acoustic “skinny dipping,” from her fifth album, emails i can’t send. Still, the sheer fun of it all has never waned. Just listen to one of the many ad-libbed outros in her live performances of the album’s pop hit “Nonsense,” or indeed the lyrical playfulness of “Espresso,” the flirty funk banger that became summer 2024’s defining hit—and which provided Carpenter’s official breakout moment. Next came the Jack Antonoff-produced “Please Please Please” (which became the summer’s second-biggest hit) and her sixth record Short n’ Sweet, a showcase of the most winking, witty music of Carpenter’s career so far. But if it saw the newly crowned pop princess take aim at past relationships, it also saw her take aim at herself. “A lot of what I really love about this album is the accountability,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “I will call myself out just as much as I will call out someone else.” - Apple Music

Victory Lap

9th single from USB

Released: 17th June 2025

Biography

Born in 1993, London-based songwriter and producer Frederick John Philip Gibson treats his electro- and rave-inspired songs as diary entries. But the artist, who performs under the name Fred again.., doesn’t limit the subject matter to himself. On albums like 2021’s Actual Life (April 14 - December 17 2020)Actual Life 2 (February 2 - October 15 2021), Fred invited his friends into the studio to record their personal stories and then sprinkled them throughout the album. The obvious exception was an epic Kodak Black sample on “Kahan (Last Year).” The songwriter has also worked with stars such as Eminem and Ed Sheeran; in 2023, he teamed up with ambient godfather Brian Eno to create the contemplative, uplifting Secret Life, a partnership that Eno called “a two-way relationship.” Fred’s longest collaboration is with his brothers, whom he shares his tracks with before they’re released. “It’s such a blessing to work with both of my brothers,” Fred explained in an interview with Apple Music. “I’ll spend hours and hours working on a tune, and they’ll hear it how I will, but without all the baggage. They bring a fresh ear.” On stage, he’s become closely associated with two beloved brothers from different mothers: Skrillex and Four Tet’s Kieran Hebden. Following a surprise booking at Coachella 2023, the three pals became an unlikely superstar DJ trio. Their success just proves a tenet key to Fred’s practice: Music is best among friends. - Apple Music

JADE

Plastic Box

5th single from THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY!

Released: 14th March 2025

Label: Sony Music Entertainment UK

Biography

The mononym Jade might be hard to place for audiences, but her presence -- particularly on the U.K. charts -- has been familiar as a member of Little Mix, who won the British singing series The X Factor and amassed over a dozen Top Ten hits at home, including five chart-topping singles. After the group announced their hiatus in 2022, Jade embarked on a solo career and scored a hit of her own in 2024 with the thrumming, synthy summer jam "Angel of My Dreams." - Apple Music

The main thing is that she broke his consecutive streak and if she doesn’t go back to number 1, we’ll be seeing the first one week number 1 of 2025

New peaks and new entries outside the top 40:

#55 Chris Brown - Holy Blindfold (NEW)

#57 CMAT - Take A Sexy Picture Of Me (+9)

#58 Josh Baker & Omar+ - Back It Up (+9)

#74 Olivia Dean - Dive (+13)

#86 Sam Fender - Rein Me In (NEW)

#97 Nemzzz ft. Latto - Art (NEW)

If Holy Blindfold does make top 40, will Radio 1 take the innocent until proven guilty approach and play it?

They skipped Angel Numbers every week it was in the chart so definitely not

What was all the fuss about a Radiohead track that didn't even appear in the Top 100 then?

"Let Down" was in the top 100 last week on ACR- we thought that if Sparks and Rock That Body were reset Let Down would get one also, unfortunately it didn't happen.
