I'll definitely advise people who have voted for "Acquiesce" and have voted for 25 tracks to have a 26th track up their sleeve as it's likely to lose its eligibility on Friday. Continue to vote for it

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED.

Thanks to the 26 voters this round- 3 less than last time, how will this affect results? You'll find out when they start tomorrow!

I request that no one with Acquiesce still on their list changes their votes now, thanks

52. Weiss- Feel My Needs (25 points)

Writer: Richard Dinsdale

Producer: Weiss

UK chart peak: did not chart

Achieved platinum status on 01/03/2024

Top voters: danG 25

The first of 2 wildcards from round 1 drops out- the only person to give it any votes at all during the rate was dan. "Feel My Needs" was a minor success on the dance and indie charts but didn't crack the top 100. It helped Weiss get signed to a label and was notably remixed by Purple Disco Machine: the remix has almost been streamed as much as the original on Spotify.

It appears most of the people who pushed this through to the semis didn't vote this time around, it is the only track to score less in the semis than it did in round 1. "You Are The Reason" is the former Britain's Got Talent finalist's 3rd biggest hit, mostly thanks to a duet version with Leona Lewis which helped the track become a minor worldwide hit.

50. Taylor Swift- Getaway Car (72 points)

Taylor's 3 semi-finalists are all from Reputation, we've already lost "Don't Blame Me" and now we lose track 9 which received a single push in Australia and New Zealand only. "Getaway Car" is a firm Swiftie favourite and there have been plenty of calls for it to have its "Cruel Summer" moment and become a high-peaking sleeper hit.

Wow, really thought Getaway Car would do better

The second single from Ben's 2011 debut album Every Kingdom is his second biggest seller. It was first recorded in 2008 for his independently released Games In The Dark EP. It belatedly peaked in 2013 apparently after heavy Radio 1 playlisting.

"All Goes Wrong"- fitting title for this rate! Taken from C&S's album Tribe, this was the first track from Tom Grennan to reach the UK top 100.

47. Bruno Mars- Count On Me (86 points)

First included on Bruno's 2010 EP It's Better If You Don't Understand, this folk track later featured on his debut album Doo-Wops And Hooligans and was pushed as a single in 2011. It has been compared to fellow Hawaiian musician Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" medley which couldn't reach the semis in this rate.

A shame to see Ben Howard going out. Keep Your Head Up is such an effortlessly joyful song, it was the first one of his I grew to love before then getting addicted to The Wolves and Old Pine... he's come such a long way (for better or worse!) since then that it's difficult to imagine the same person released such a cheery song with a video of them building a water slide

A ubiquitous country-pop hit in the States from the 2005 American Idol winner, "Before He Cheats" is written from the perspective of a woman who destroys her boyfriend's car believing he is cheating on her. It never charted in the UK but has carved its way into the public consciousness, just like how Carrie carves her name into the leather seats of her man's car.

"Fliggoo giggoo, a-fliguh woo-wa mama Lucifer" absolute poetry. The most successful single from the legendary comedy rock duo is a tribute to "the greatest song in the world" that JB and KG apparently played to a demon:  it is said that the song is based on "Stairway To Heaven" but Jack, a huge Led Zeppelin fan, says that the song they played "didn't actually sound anything like this song" so clearly not. It was never released as a single in the UK but its music video (directed by Liam Lynch and starring Dave Grohl as the demon with a cameo from Ben Stiller) was a huge success on music TV in the 2000s. It charted for the first time in 2012 when the duo returned with Rise Of The Fenix.

Taken from Sia's 2016 album This Is Acting, this track went viral in 2022 and was pushed as a single, charting in the US top 40 for the first time. It shifted at least 200,000 units in the UK that year and likely would've charted with an ACR reset.

crap I forgot to vote and I would have pointed a few of these!

Missed the cut off due to being in a field for a week but Getaway Car would have scored very well from me
