Really hope 'Sapphire' can overtake 'Blessings', Calvin hasn't released a properly decent song for years, whereas Ed has (to my surprise) already served up 4 this year!

'Sapphire' will probably fall lower I would imagine.

"1tro" and "cliff" are both being added to the swear filter x

  • Including all the streams feels like stat padding for the sake of it. It's a decent system as is, GH stuff is interesting to track in its own right but I largely just don't categorise it the same way

  • Neither did poor Dior which dropped so hard to Number 1.

Bieber is so weak on Amazon I’d be surprised if he could get 20k and wet leg will easily be 20k+

Wet leg arnt usually front loaded are they , seems like a comfortable lead that

Oh wow wasn't expecting Bieber to be quite so low! I knew Wet Leg would likely be selling more but #5 seems a massive underperformance at this stage?

His last album, Justice, "only" sold 21k on debut and that had a full physical release with variants from the start. This is digital only for now, so I'd say he could end up higher by the end of the week (especially given how we know streaming is a day behind).

Surprised at those Bieber numbers- looking likely Sabrina's streak will continue. Interested in seeing Wet Leg's sales

Indeed - and I think they'll push for sales if it gets close!

I can't say I'm that surprised, he's the sort of artist who usually needs solid big hits for interest in albums and this doesn't have any physicals either. It seems to have been quite a muted comeback all in all.

Depends if #4 is morning glory then Sabrina’s streak could be in trouble since Bieber will outstream her and so will Oasis

Given how fast Bieber is falling, I would say Sabrina may even outstream him by the end of the week!

Ed and Fleetwood Mac are ahead of Sabrina now, no way she's keeping her streak...

Noticed Bitter Sweet Symphony sneaking in at the bottom end of the singles, hope it can get a reset along with Dakota!

New big albums always pick up again on Monday

Streaming numbers are very poorly accounted for in the UK Top Albums chart. So I’m not surprised that Bieber is debuting around number 5.

The UK really needs to take a page from what Billboard does in the US when it comes to streaming, to better reflect the actual popularity of an album over the week. That would also put an end to all those pointless number ones on the UK Albums Chart — albums that debut at #1 with barely decent physical sales and often disastrous streaming figures. Then the following week, they drop 50 places, or in some cases, fall out of the Top 100 entirely.

Streaming is now the main way people consume music. It only makes sense that it should be given much more weight in the UK Albums Chart rankings.

I can't see how that'll achieve anything other than pushing all those perennial Greatest Hits mainstays even higher week upon week. I think it's fair to say Bieber just isn't performing exceptionally well, and that's being reflected.

I believe Billboard don't downweight the top 2 tracks like they do in the UK- Alex Warren's album would be number one for weeks because of Ordinary when it's clear only around 5 songs are getting substantial streams. They also don't care about how long albums are which is why Morgan Wallen and his 50-year-long albums dominate, the UK accounts for that by only looking at the top 16 songs. The way the albums chart is calculated is mostly fine as is, they just need to do something about greatest hits/catalogue domination.

Short n sweet is behind ed and Fleetwood, does anyone know why thatd be? Ed I can understand, she's been only a few hundred units above for a few weeks now, but Fleetwood was comfortable by 1500 or more
