March 12Mar 12 It really frustrates me how they don’t just release the spring Now’s at the end of March, surely it would make so much more sense with 4 months between each release. Not to mention that there’s always so many tracks that are in the charts around Christmas time that appear on the Spring Now’s.I think 3 volumes a year still works so that no hits are missed out, and people are still buying them. But I’m glad that they’re not filling them with 50 tracks anymore, less is more especially with how slow the charts are nowadays.

If they wanna knock them down to 2 a year, at least do May and November as there’s 6 months in between or switch to the American format and have 4 single disc editions a year (February, May, August and November) and only include actual hits and no radio 2 songs and I think there would’ve been more frustration if they’d have announced one of their pointless spin-offs today in place of Now 123 instead of 12" 1986 part 2 Edited March 12Mar 12 by Hadji

I wouldn't say it's unreasonable for them to knock it down to 2 volumes a year here.

March 12Mar 12 The numbered series can’t be making much money these days. It wouldn’t surprise me to see them move to 2 a year or even stop completely. They been giving us less and less with the for years and the charts a too slow to change that. The Yearbook announcements are way more exciting. I wouldn’t be surprised if they completed their Yearbook plans and then called it a day.

It wouldn’t make sense to continue those pointless spin-offs but stop the numbered series when that’s their biggest seller followed by the yearbooks Edited March 12Mar 12 by Hadji

Nearly every chart hit big and small that they could possibly give us (that they are able to license), they will have given us. The Yearbooks have been an amazing concept that I have loved to collect, but it's also backed them into a corner, because you can't keep on selling the same songs to a dwindling bunch of collectors. For anybody who has collected all of the Yearbooks, it near enough renders any other (hits-based) spin-offs pointless in future.I wonder how long Germany will continue with Bravo Hits, they are pushing out four a year still plus an end of year Best Of. They each feature about 10-15 chart hits in tracklists of about 46-48 songs and lots of contemporary songs (mostly dance releases) as the filler. The RRP is nearly twice as much as Now, at about €21-€23, so they probably make more profit due to the higher price point alone.
March 12Mar 12 Author What is the general consensus of the Now Facebook group where there are lots of informed fans "in the know" who might have a little insight into the situation?

March 12Mar 12 I also reckon that Now are disguising most of their pointless spin-offs as eras lately to help them sell better and could you imagine if they decided to stop the numbered albums just because 121 and 122 didn’t top the compilation chart Edited March 13Mar 13 by Hadji

March 13Mar 13 If Now wanna stop any of their albums, they should stop those pointless spin-offs and if they wanna knock them down to 2 a year, then at least do them every 6 months so it’s spaced out evenly. Even if they did knock them down to 2 a year, it still won’t stop them including radio 2 artists Edited March 13Mar 13 by Hadji
March 13Mar 13 Sadly I expect it's more profitable for them to throw a load of old guff on in a random order as they do on those spin-offs, of songs from the past that will be cheaper to license.I think the first Jukebox album ended up selling more than most of the last few numbered albums have! And 50s songs will be dirt cheap to acquire.
March 14Mar 14 Here’s a thought. If Now are struggling to release Now 123 because of licensing issues and don’t know what to use as filler, they could just use the old songs that appeared recently in the charts as long as they’re licensable and haven’t already appeared ie. If they wanna knock them down to 2 a year or stop them completely, they should at least let people know and put them out of their misery like they did when Now 105 got postponed to May 2020 Edited March 14Mar 14 by Hadji
March 14Mar 14 I would imagine they're consciously just avoiding the Easter weekend. Now 114 was released 14th April in 2023 (announced 16th March), which was also the week after Easter.I appreciate there are noticeable trends in the way they announce and release their titles but I think it's pointless speculating that there's an unncessary delay or that the series is in dire straits just because the "expected" announcement didn't happen this week. I'm sure we will get something in due course, but they don't owe anyone an announcement (no matter how many times people spam their social media about it). 2020 is not comparable as that was during the pandemic.

Before 2023, they’d release them a week before Easter. They should just leave the release dates of the spring editions alone like they do with the summer and autumn editions rather than constantly fiddling with them. Also when it comes to releasing other Now albums on the same day as a numbered Now, I’ve noticed it’s always the pointless spin-offs that they’ll release at the same time as a numbered Now and never a yearbook related album, eras or 12" 80s Edited March 15Mar 15 by Hadji
