What is the us format?

Each week begins with a Head Of Household competition, this can be endurance, some kind of physical competition, fetching things, or a true and false quiz, stuff like that. Whoever wins that is safe for the week and nominates two people typically, and then there is a power of veto, very similar to the Save and Replace in the last channel 4 seasons. This isn’t played by everyone, it’s the HOH, 2 nominees and then each of them typically pick a name out of a random bag. Whoever wins this can either choose to keep the nominations the same or save one of the nominees, then the HOH must nominate someone else. On eviction night, two people are left on the block and the house votes on who they want to evict, the nominees can’t vote and the HOH only votes if there’s a tie. So it’s a strategy/social game with a lot of layers. For example if you know someone is a competition threat, you might not nominate them first of all to minimise their chance of play veto, but you “backdoor” them as the replacement nominee. After a few weeks, it’s the jury phase so the evicted housemates form a jury and vote for the winner, usually it’s 7 or 9 housemates. So that’s the social aspect, your fate lies in the hands of them so you have to last the game, probably cut people, but not burn bridges or they won’t vote for you at the end.

I don’t trust ITV to cast this properly for that to work but I think they do need to swing big and try something different.

For example with last series it could be:

Ali wins HOH

Ali nominates Marcello and Khaled

Ali, Marcello, Khaled, Daze, Dean and Emma play veto.

Emma wins veto and saves Marcello so Ali nominates Nathan as a replacement

Dean vs Khaled on the block

Khaled evicted

In later US seasons it’s been 3 and there is an additional smaller competition on eviction night for one of the 3 nominees (for most of the season until the cast thins out too much) to be saved immediately before the vote, this also kind of removes the strategy of a veto a bit but it spiced up eviction nights.

Oh okay, I don't see them taking the public vote away from us though when its always been this way and the diary room noms are too good to remove that.

The diary room chair for this series.

Be warned it's hideous

I haven't been a massive fan of any of the diary room chairs in the ITV era, but my god this one is absolutely horrible lol

So pumped. I just really hope they picked better people then last year. Half of them were almost unbearable to watch.

It’s the casting I don’t trust them on lol fingers crossed!

Agreed!

Feels odd the launch is only an hour and a half - seems short if there’s going to be 16 again
