The thing was Charli XCX was not slagging her off in her song, Taylor just choose to take it that way which is strange you think she would have understood nuance

Charli doesn’t mention calling Taylor “Boring Barbie” in ‘Sympathy is a knife’, does she? So why would Taylor be referencing that song when the opening line of ‘Actually Romantic’ is clearly alluding to something Charli has said/been saying “in private”?

I really don’t see where the confusion is with it? But meh, as has been stated people interpret things differently I guess.

I think I’m coming round to ‘Eldest Daughter’ a lot today. Kinda surprised tbh. I’m seeing the release party movie today. Excited to see the video for ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ and hear the bts stories of each song.

I do agree. But her herself saying this was folklore storytelling, gave people an expectation that wasn't met. The entire vibe she gave pre-album was not at all the product it actually was.

Brat made her a cultural icon. Before that she was a middling artist with a fanbase but no longer had mainstream success. She even references that herself in Brat! Mate, I think you're missing the point completely. Before BRAT she was an artist who had had some mainstream success but was pretty much confined to being a fans' artist after some good success in 2012-2014. When she wrote the song, she wasn't exactly being lined up to headline Lollapolloza and Coachella was she?

Anyway, my point was a song got under Taylor's skin and I just don't think there is a need to be that personal and vindicative as someone who ahs elevated their career by slagging off people (mainly blokes).

There was nothing personal and vindictive, someone getting platinum songs throughout there career is not suddenly breaking through with her album Brat,

Your acting like other artists have never spoken about previous music in song, heck ABBA, Fleetwood Mac, no doubt, are 3 big examples, if you dont like the song you dont like the song, but unless you know 100 percent what each party has said and done its all speculation,

I saw the movie today and it was sweet. 'The Fate of Ophelia' music video is incredible. Very much a video of the year contender. Some songs hit harder on the cinema speakers too. 'CANCELLED!' beat is dirrrty af and it was delicious! (Also, I think I'm coming around to 'Actually Romantic'... lol. Not by a lot but I'm at least in the "this is actually pretty fun" stage atm). Her explanations of the tracks was cute too. Particularly for 'Actually Romantic' and 'Wood' (the latter in particular).

I'm still surprised this is still only on about 8 vinyl variants.

The music video is good. Way better then Fornight ever was. Midnights are still A tier videos of hers
