Posted August 30, 2025Aug 30 F is for Free Me.Two British pop girls longing to be freed in the 2000s albeit for very different reasons. Emma was first to release her seductive 'Free Me' in May 2003, as the lead single to her 60s-inspired sophomore album of the same name. It gave Baby Spice a fourth top 5 single in the UK, peaking at #5, kicking off another successful era for her. Joss Stone released her very own 'Free Me' as the lead single to her 2009 EP Colour Me Free!, acting as a protest song to be removed from her contract with EMI. Unfortunately for Joss, the song went by without any notice, only charting in Switzerland.Which is the superior Free Me to you?Soundclash: Noughties Namesakes history:A is for All I Ever Wanted (Basshunter vs Kelly Clarkson)B is for Baby Boy (Big Brovaz vs Beyoncé & Sean Paul)C is for Call My Name (Prince vs Charlotte Church)D is for Don't Tell Me (Madonna vs Avril Lavigne)E is for Emergency (Paramore vs Jordin Sparks)
August 30, 2025Aug 30 Well obviously Emma here but Joss's is fine too. Haven't heard it since the time it was released though.
September 15, 2025Sep 15 Joss has a great voice but I’ve never really enjoyed her music. Went for Emma.
