Piers Morgan continuing his feud with Zack Polanski on QT this evening calling him divisive dangerous and frankly weird because he believes a woman can have a penis.

I saw this, god I despise that man so much. Pierced Organ's obsession with genitalia is the only weird thing here.

Also Robert Jenrick is an absolute C U Next Thursday, but that's not news to anyone.

And that is the end of the Green Party as a sensible force and why it is dumb ass idea to let your Party members vote for policy.

Presuming this references the 'Zionism is racism' vote at their conference?

I don't think this changes minds towards the Green Party at all, been pretty well-known that they are pro-Palestinian for a while and it's not big enough of a swing issue with regards to getting actual votes, as much as the media wants to draw up battle lines.

They are completely cooked and this is them electrocally finished after Polanski gets beat and gets outed. They are ideogically aligned with Hamas and you can no longer be a Jewish member of the Green Party unless you denounce your family.

I don't see how you can attract the sane Left vote after this debacle. They've fallen victim to their own stupidity.

Ideologically aligned with Hamas? Listen to yourself. It doesn't seem to be a disciplinary motion at all, rather a statement of intent for future policy, as it should be given it's almost entirely foreign-leaning.

Got it from their website so we understand exactly what we're talking about here - https://greenparty.org.uk/2026/10/04/green-party-adopts-anti-zionist-policy/:

The motion sets out the Party’s opposition to Zionism, defined as an ethnonationalist political project, and states that anti-Zionism should not be equated with antisemitism. The motion reasserts the Party’s commitment to Palestinian liberation, the right of return, Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS), and a full arms embargo against Israel.

The motion also restates the Green Party’s backing for the right to self-determination and calls for the establishment of a single democratic state throughout historic Palestine.

That's entirely reasonable and fits some mainstream Left positions - mainstream Left parties can differ on two-state vs one-state but the bad implication of a one-state here is explicitly not what they're calling for with a single democratic, not explicitly religious state. Fits with the only long-term peace ideal that I think would stop violence too, sharing power in a Bosnia-style agreement, but not workable in the short-term for obvious reasons.

All the Green MPs have distanced themselves from any of the worst implications which neuters attacks on them during interviews. They'll face lots of questions over it no doubt and this isn't good for Polanski's chances in the by-election but I think saying it's a moment where the Green Party has gone beyond the point of no return is quite sensationalist. Though I agree their methods for choosing policy could use some work.

Iz you do know the adoptive tone means they support the end of Israel as a seperate state!??? The policy is discrimination. We'd rightly criticise Restore Britain for something so fundamentally wrong.

None of the MPs wanted it because it's absolutely stupid and politically dreadful - you can't defend it. The Greens were already falling back in to irrelevance after Burnham got related and sure this policy may be popular with a small group of people, I hardly believe it will encourage people to vote for the Greens on a national and local level because it is utterly bonkers. They are competely cooked.

Is one unified democratic state in the region with equal rights for all an indefensible prospect?

Of course not, but that's not going to happen and those who support the one state solution on either part of the debate, are not supporting it so everyone can live peacefully and enjoy a good kick about over any buffer zone. You'd suddenly find this current incarnation of the Green Party would become anti-migrant pretty quickly.

It's a massive own goal for the Green Party.

Both Hamas and the Green Party now support the one state solution under Islamic Arab rule. How is that not aligned with Hamas?

Even worse, the amendents that were put through were voted down that would have at least protected the persecution of any Jewish Green members. This sort of stuff also plays directly in to the hands of the Osraeli government and the right-wing who essentially use this to retain support amongst Western Jews.

Like I said, this is effectively the end of the Green Party. As soon as Polanski loses the by-election and is booted out, the Green Party will have been hijacked by the fringe members as a vehicle for a protest vote.

There are many factions of Palestinian parties that advocate a 1 state solution including Balad, PFLP, DFLP. The fact you link the Green Party to Hamas shows you are just trying to undermine legitimate political discussion about the matter. All that does is play into the hands of Israeli extremists who by the way don’t advocate a 2 state solution either.

Beyond the quagmire of one political party in a country that isn't hugely geopolitically relevant on its own, more generally we do at some point have to move on from the default Western platitudes around a two state solution which are meaningless when increasingly few Israelis even pay lip service towards that aspiration and we have a one-state reality.

This article is over 20 years old but still rings true.

A one state solution by either country ultimately means a genocide and ethnic cleansing. I’m clear what that means for both Israel and Palestine and why a two state solution is favoured.

The Green Party policy is ultimately the same policy as Hamas so I’m not sure how it’s any different, no matter how people may wish to dress it up. It’s an extremist policy on either side of the fence and there’s good reason all of the serious politicians in the Green Party have distanced themselves from it (although they can’t really).

Baffling to see them dying on this hill.

Is it ideological capture or is the young base they are targeting truly internationalist?

I think the biggest sticking point I have with Greens and really anyone British putting Israel-Palestine as their most important and impactful policy is that it feels very privileged to me; to not have any problems at home you want to focus on, instead allowing all your political capital to go on trying to solve a foreign conflict.

I fundamentally do not think British politicians should ever have something like that as a number 1 focus.

Sidenote, I don't understand why a one state policy necessarily would result in ethnic cleansing. If Scotland became independent I don't think any non Scots living there would be genocided (?)

Weird thing about this, every news outlet is running with the 'Zionism is racism' headline, but the Green Party press releases don't use that wording at all, it's just an 'anti-Zionist policy', based on the opposition to an ethnonationalist political project. Was something different said at the conference? Because otherwise I don't understand that. Similarly, some are mischaracterising the state Greens would like to see, the BBC calls it, in quote marks a "single democratic Palestinian State", but the Greens' press release calls it 'a single democratic state throughout historic Palestine'. These are different things! And not only because under some definitions historic Palestine includes Jordan.

To be clear, this motion done in this way is not a good idea, mostly from an optics perspective, taking away focus from Green domestic and environmental policies. Also would have been a lot more defensible, if less noticeable, if it included a more general opposition to ethnonationalism - most of the states surrounding Israel are also ethnonationalist and have as bad or worse governments. The point of foreign policy for prospective parties should be to indicate a moral leaning, as it's all hypothetical, and this shouldn't be the only foreign policy issue talked about, even though it is an important one.

But as the Greens release puts it, it's a fine if idealistic idea to have as their foreign policy. As the media are reporting it, less so. Especially when you include the Green's definition of Zionism as the ethnonationalist project that is the current position of Israel, whose government policy is one state under Israeli rule. Hamas' policy is one state under Palestinian rule. International observers plus the Palestinian authority generally support two-state, but there is room for what the Greens describe as something to aim for, distinct from any of those.

I really don’t think a one state solution by either country has to equal genocide and ethnic cleansing, albeit the current and previous Israeli governments have shown they can’t be trusted to have a one state under a right wing Israeli government.

But the different views can be healthy and actually the situation that creates a stalemate where all sides get what they want with my Good Friday Agreement(GFA) head on. Albeit a different conflict why should I, as an Irish Republican, not have the right to pursue a United Ireland with an all Ireland government based in Dublin. Without that ability the GFA would never had been signed. It’s now this point by which some of the stalemate in the NI constitution is begininng to form as people ask for a border poll. Ironically having to ask a British unionist secretary state for permission for this.

I also don’t think this is an extremist position to take for any party. A single democratic Palestinian state. Unfort if you take these options off the table it will lead to extremism from groups like Hamas. Where do you think Hamas came from, the removal of rights from Palestinians through the decades.

Agree totally with the optics Iz highlighted in the previous post.

Maybe I'm incredibly stupid, but if you have Palestine authority with a majority is Israeli people, I'm sure I know what would happen next. Likewise, if the shoe was on the other foot, I know what Israel would want to do too. I don't support either and is why the two state solution is the only way forward imo.

The core issue is despite the rights and wrongs, the Green Party could have passed a lesser agressive motion. We can debate for ages what the Green Party motion actually means, but Zionism = racism is such a radical move to make. I don't see how this is healthy and does seem a roundabout way of saying Israel has no right to exist. What the Israeli government is doing is awful, they are rightly been torn to pieces and should continue to be.

My wider point is this policy/motion is utterly brainless for the Green Party with climate issues at the forefront of their policies. Polling was showing people were considering voting for Greens and certainly on a local level they were doing well. This is not a policy to attract voters and by various accounts, many members walked out of the conference at the weekend after the results were announced! In what could and should have been a vehicle to influence the Government, the more radical element of the Party is about to take control, become a protest party and ultimately damage the electorate of the Green Party.

The irony is the Israeli state is currently boasting about ethnic cleansing in southern Lebanon and the outrage is all about the Green Party notion stating Israels official ideology is racist.
