Next single should definitely be Don't Look Down.

He probably should have been a bit more daring and gone for this as the new one.

I forgot about Texas Hold'Em because I didn't really like it so didn't add it to my relevant pop/radio hits playlist and haven't heard it much as a recurrent on BBC Radio 1 so forgot it existed and now I feel silly.

 

But as you say, the point still stands.

Wish Break My Soul or Cuff It had gone to #1!

Accelerated chart ratio basically it means only half their streams count towards the chart

I tried my hardest to get into it and it's always nice to see a pop veteran at the chart summit. Just wasn't for me unfortunately! The one with Miley was a bit better but even that didn't make it on my summer '24 playlist, so I'll never be its shotgun rider 'til the day I die.

Guess I just prefer funky/dancey Beyoncé!

Beyonce is interesting because some of her songs do very well for a while but don't really become long lasting successes. Texas Hold'em gets less than 400k streams daily on Spotify. Break My Soul is doing horribly, 101k.

I'd have thought those numbers were decent but then again I don't know what a good number is for a 'contemporary classic'. Maybe someone can enlighten me?

It was alright at first just got overplayed to death but was very lowbar countrywide which was what she was going for

It was the lead single from her debut album in 2023, and on an old EP from as far back as 2020 I think.

And incidentally a 3 week no1 on my personal chart back then. Reminds me of moving house in Spring 2023 as it was the soundtrack!

Dive was on her last album, don't think she'll put it on the new one. Lady Lady will probably be her 3rd highest by then unless she's teasing another song on TikTok
