To be fair that was a pretty stupid rule!

And this type of rule only happened twice - first the 2005 rules where CDs and downloads had to jointly coexist with each other and after 52 weeks, a song would be deleted from the chart listing, but nothing compared to the anger of the 2006 rules - dubbed by James Masterton as the curates egg era of the chart - where positively, you could chart a week before the physical release on downloads but negatively, if your physical copy was deleted, the song would spend two more weeks on the chart before being permanently removed from the chart listings. Good thing those all went away on January 7th, 2007!

Biography

Singer/songwriter Olivia Dean crafts poignant ballads and warm pop anthems, showcasing a deep sense of self-awareness. Born in 1999 in Enfield and raised in Walthamstow, Dean participated in gospel choir at a young age, before busking in the streets and eventually attending the famous BRIT School. Influenced by Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse and Carole King, Dean’s own take on music is autobiographical and vulnerable. In 2019, she released her debut EP, Ok Love You Bye, which delved into the challenging aspects of dating, like on the meditative “Password Change”. The following year, Dean dropped her follow-up EP, What Am I Gonna Do On Sundays?, a concise but evocative set of songs brimming with celestial melodies and confessional lyrics. Dean’s signature introspective style continues to grow more intimate, as evinced by the delicate 2021 EP Growth, highlighted by the soul-baring single “Be My Own Boyfriend”. - Apple Music

I am still so in love with this, such a banger! One of the rare instances where I prefer the remix to the original lol, this one is just sooooo catchy and fun

Same.

I highly think that Radio 1's prediction of the chart in their eyes is to swap HUNTR/X with Olivia Dean's "Man I Need" at the top, just to probably fill that quota of British bred musicians at the top of the UK singles chart this year.

Jack did not speak all over the lyrics to No Broke Boys for a change.

He played 2 jingles instead !!

Biography

Some may dismiss pop as inauthentic. But for Lady Gaga—one of popular culture’s greatest, most extravagant creations—the inauthenticity is the point. No artist has more defiantly embodied that provocation this century than the one born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (in New York in 1986). Never wedded to the same image—her most memorable looks (among many) have included a gown fashioned from raw meat, a red-carpet-appropriate pair of dish gloves and “the world’s first flying dress”—Gaga personifies pop’s surface obsessions while simultaneously upending them. In a sense, her creative identity had crystallised by age 21; she’d been a child pianist, aspiring actor and burlesque performer. Each of these facets powered her career’s most distinct parts: the celebrity fascination of her first two albums, 2008’s The Fame and 2009’s The Fame Monster; the subversive layering of 2011’s Born This Way and 2013’s ARTPOP; the sincere reverence of 2014’s Cheek to Cheek, her jazz standards album with Tony Bennett; the rootsier songwriting of 2016’s Joanne; and 2020’s jubilant return to her neon-hued electro roots, Chromatica. If the 2009 smash “Paparazzi” reveled in the flashes, then “Born This Way” celebrated inner light: in translating her diffuse identity into world-conquering art, Gaga has become a beacon to anyone else who’s felt like an outsider. Her loyal following of Little Monsters have affirmed a deep connection to her message of self-love and self-expression, despite pop’s fickleness and her chameleonic exterior. She played out a simpler version of her path to fame in the Oscar-worthy 2018 remake of A Star Is Born. But while her character’s ascent was abetted by her lover, Gaga’s was all her own. - Apple Music

Biography

Chappell Roan specializes in jubilant, femme-positive pop that combines a strong romantic streak with a hunger for grand experiences. Kayleigh Rose Amstutz (born in 1998 in Willard, MO) began posting cover-song videos online in her teens, and after releasing her first EP, School Nights, in 2017, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her pop-star dreams. In early 2020 she connected with producer Dan Nigro, and that April she released “Pink Pony Club,” a torchy ballad about thriving at “a special place/where boys and girls can all be queens every single day.” Roan released a smattering of singles, including the writhing “My Kink Is Karma” and the yearning “Casual,” before putting out her first full-length, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, in September 2023. Roan’s unbridled, lusty pop songs became an online phenomenon—or, as she might put it, a “femininomenon”—and she hit the arena circuit when she opened for Olivia Rodrigo on the latter’s GUTS tour in early 2024. - Apple Music

I think they've only played Eternity twice! Also the BBC presenters clearly do not like KPop Demon Hunters it's so obvious 😂

The subway still sounds so magical. Such a stunning song. Eternity on the other hand… the sooner that goes the better

I am officially in agreement with Roan's comment that for her, "it can take up to at least five years to make an album". You see, you need your best and worst songs written to fill an album tracklist.
