Well, it turns out I will inevitably have to get this on catch-up following the show's broadcast due to the ongoing wreck of the current Irish storm.. guess I'm throwing my tapes out the pram for one week only and fully cancelling live recording for once.

"Mummy, why is Sabrina getting wet?"

Ooh wonder if this means Myles Smith didn't make it! This track is alright but not the best dance song to go top 40 this year by any means

He did say at the start there's a new entry from him.

A singer and songwriter whose sweetly sad tunes are warm and emotionally open, Myles Smith blends the gentle passion of his vocals with music that incorporates elements of contemporary folk, indie pop, and a dash of Americana. Shame only dealer provided longevity for lola from this album post one thing, shame spiders didnt go top 40

Sapphire showing great longevity but wouldn't be suprised if its its last week

BT climbing again 🙄

As a Norwegian myself it's nice to see a good track by a Norwegian in the top 40. By the way, Oskar med K literally means Oskar with a K.

Ah boo at this actually climbing from the mids. Salt in the wound after Tame Impala not making it...

I'll never not be convinced this guy isn't a George Ezra impersonator.

To continue on from that: the Myles Smyth new entry says "cancel all your plans" so that's what I'm doing temporarily despite a temper tantrum.

Biography

Chappell Roan specializes in jubilant, femme-positive pop that combines a strong romantic streak with a hunger for grand experiences. Kayleigh Rose Amstutz (born in 1998 in Willard, MO) began posting cover-song videos online in her teens, and after releasing her first EP, School Nights, in 2017, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her pop-star dreams. In early 2020 she connected with producer Dan Nigro, and that April she released “Pink Pony Club,” a torchy ballad about thriving at “a special place/where boys and girls can all be queens every single day.” Roan released a smattering of singles, including the writhing “My Kink Is Karma” and the yearning “Casual,” before putting out her first full-length, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, in September 2023. Roan’s unbridled, lusty pop songs became an online phenomenon—or, as she might put it, a “femininomenon”—and she hit the arena circuit when she opened for Olivia Rodrigo on the latter’s GUTS tour in early 2024. - Apple Music
