You are so right - ACR is what the US singles chart does need, or something similar to that.

Same goes with Australia.

This week's bookends observation isn't as exciting as last week but nevertheless, we will presumably be getting a T.S. #1 and #40 magic

This is very pop for Tame Impala's standards, isn't it?

a bit, but it feels like a breath of fresh air in the charts.

Biography

Known as the “moodmaker” of BLACKPINK for the ways in which she centres the group's energy, JISOO puts her pop-star power to work across a number of creative disciplines. In addition to serving as lead vocalist of the K-pop girl squad, BLACKPINK's unnie (aka older sister) is also a K-drama actor and fashion icon. And though she may have been the final member of BLACKPINK to release her own music, seven years after the group's official debut, the delay did nothing to hinder JISOO's success in the solo spotlight. Born 김지수 (Kim Ji-soo) in Gunpo, South Korea, in 1995, JISOO became a trainee under music agency YG Entertainment in 2011 and debuted—alongside JENNIE, ROSÉ and LISA, as BLACKPINK—in 2016. Known for their bold raps, BLACKPINK would go on to become one of the most popular girl groups of all time. Their debut song “BOOMBAYAH” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart, and was followed by other hits like "DDU-DU DDU-DU" and "Kill This Love”. The group has also collaborated with artists including Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, Cardi B and Selena Gomez, and in 2023, they became the first Korean act to headline Coachella. JISOO helped pen the lyrics for 2020’s “Lovesick Girls”, one of BLACKPINK's most popular songs, written as a hopeful track for girls who have been hurt in relationships yet still look for love. She also contributed to “Yeah Yeah Yeah”, the fourth track on BLACKPINK’s 2022 studio album Born Pink. In March 2023, JISOO made her solo debut with Me, which featured the midtempo, finger-snapping hit “FLOWER.” - Apple Music

Biography

Benson Boone (born in 2002 in Monroe, WA) bet on himself and hit big in the early 2020s. After leaving Brigham Young University to pursue his music career, the singer-songwriter tried out for American Idol, but he left the competition after making it past the talent show’s auditions. Trading the small screen of TV for the hand-sized screens of social media, he began posting videos online, and Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds took notice, signing Boone to his label Night Street Records. Boone’s early singles were emotion-packed piano ballads—the sweeping debut single “GHOST TOWN,” the swirling 2022 cut “In The Stars”—but plugging in proved to be a winning strategy. His modern power ballad “Beautiful Things,” released in early 2024, was an online sensation before it became a global megahit, reaching the U.S. Top 10 and readying the world for Boone’s debut full-length, Fireworks & Rollerblades, which came out that spring. - Apple Music

86 (count 'em) weeks in the Top 40 now!

Playing Lose Control and Beautiful Things.

I take back what I said about preferring James to Jack !!

“Eyes Closed” is very meh but Top 40 freshness is pretty much always welcome at the moment.

Great that “Dracula” is on the rise.

Ugh at Teddy and Benson climbing but I did warn that would be a side effect of an ACR clearout.

Christmas season last year aside, this has had one week out of the top 40, what an enduring smash cheeseblock

This is very pop for Tame Impala's standards, isn't it?

Depends what you've heard before I think - he's been pretty indie pop for about a decade now.
