If anything I'd say it's The Beatles who are under-performing this week, I thought a lot more than 7k people would be rushing to buy the latest Anthology! I know it will be a far from perfect comparison but do we know what the previous Anthologies opened with?

First week UK sales

Anthology 1 - 125,000

Anthology 2 - 78,000

Anthology 3 - 52,000

and in 1994 Live at the BBC did 148,000 first week.

OK so I know we're in a different sales climate but surely there should be a few more Beatles collectors out there than the Monday sales figures suggest then! I was definitely expecting it to open with 20-30k at least. Presumably it's available on all physical formats including vinyl?

Thats why I'd rather songs weren't reset after Xmas, keep them on acr and let new music take predecent

Especially songs that are over the 3 year threshold (Another Love and Cruel Summer) or have already reached number 1 (Easy On Me)

Amazon orders/sales over the last month.

Anthology 4 CD - 1,000 £23

Anthology 4 vinyl – 300 £69

Anthology Box Set CD – 500 £95

Anthology Box Set vinyl – 50 £308

And I assume sales at HMV are similar. On iTunes Anthology 4 now down to no. 22. I assume few streams on Spotify or Amazon Music.

My guess for Anthology 4 was 10,000. We will see on Friday.

It’s probably over performing when you look at the prices (£310 for the vinyl and £95 for the CD)

That's the box set though. The individual Anthology is £69 for the vinyl and £23 for the CD as Ben has said above, but yeah this is still very pricy - I must admit I didn't know the physicals were that expensive so based on that, the low sales make more sense!

UPDATE: Amazon now say 2K+ Anthology 4 CD bought in past month.

On the album charts you also have greatest hits albums by James and Madness, hard to say how well they’ll do, they could prove to be popular Christmas presents

James outselling Madness as well. Given Madness had a similar compilation out in 2017 I guess it isn’t a surprise. Both these bands had their first studio album No 1s last two years and I’d be interested to see what their total sales are to compare. Especially are either album near Silver?

I finally heard The Fate of Ophelia for the first time yesterday and it’s the best single Taylor Swift has ever made.

Should have a chance in the new year. I want either WIMH or So Easy for the first number 1 of 2026. Not too fussed about Elizabeth Taylor
