Barely even December and the top 40 is an absolute sh!tshow already 💀

In like 5 charts time it’ll be back to normal with year old songs in the top 40 again, it’s not a huge deal.

You can like old Christmas music and not want it in the chart at the same time

But it does chart as it’s what is popular in December.

We need WHAM to save us from Ophelis ASAP

They will unfortunately even though I don’t like either song

I listened to POTP yesterday and their charts weren’t clogged up with Christmas songs but saying that, Stop The Cavalry was in the 1980 chart on yesterdays POTP but they skipped it

But EVERY single year. I like following charts as an escape sometimes (I know that's weird) and I hate Christmas so it's frustrating when it didn't always used to be like this.

But I won't harp on I'll just tune out til January

I think a takeover each year in the streaming era is natural and I don't mind it to a point, I just wish it didn't completely obliterate 6 whole chart weeks of the year.

Assume it was Dec 1980?

I get it, I would rather the newer Christmas music being new entries like in the old days and doing well rather than the same 30 Xmas songs charting each December because the chart now measures listens rather than sales but we are where we are with the metrics and consumption. And if these songs gain enough traction over the years they will start becoming bigger which I like measuring.

Maybe you’ll grow to like Christmas again later in life as it means something different.

Christmas has always been about old music, the songs just weren't available to buy in the physical singles era. Many traditional hits appeared in 2007 and have returned every year since (such as Brenda Lee).

We just listened to ‘NOW! That’s What I Call Christmas’ instead - but as you said, that would mostly cover the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Hope Nobody's Son holds on. Why is Skinny entering all of a sudden?

Buble may have a chance too..

It was the chart from 30th November to 6th December 1980 where Stop The Cavalry climbed to number 15. If they went to 1980 next week rather than this week, they probably would’ve played Stop The Cavalry

Has anyone ever topped both the Albums and Singles charts at Xmas? Curious if Kylie can do it. She'll have the Amazon boost and her team are going all out with physical variants of the Xmas album.

The album's out next week and I think it'll probably be a bit frontloaded to hold on for Christmas.

Top of my head Robbie did it in 2001 and spice girls in 1996

The Beatles topped both charts at Christmas loads of times.

This is my main issue, yeah idk 1 week is fun we all laugh a little like with Halloween and thriller

But like it wasn’t even December and we are already seeing Christmas invading charts it’s a little too much

I dont understand why people get so upset about it, its not a mandatory requirement to listen to the charts,

The charts have always been about tracking whats popular, and the last 5 weeks of the year thats christmas,

I always tend to find the majority of those that are anti christmas before December tend to have a proper break off work for it

Just let us people that only get the day enjoy pur christmas magic how we can and grab it how we can

Is your life really so bad that a couple of weeks of christmas music on the chart is the worst thing ever, then its not too bad really is it 😅

To me its like you start counting down to Christmas on the 1st so like why does it bleed into November. Oh well its here now, just hoping it's not the predictable wham at 1 every week

There are so many different ways everyone's different if they are happy they are happy

Some is the 1st but usually gone before new year

Some its 13th but dont take it down until the 6th January

Theres the Christian way you put up 24th and dont take down until the 1st of March candlemass

At the end of the day theres enough shit going on in the world a few weeks of christmas music is hardly the worst 🤣🤣
