  • The last time the FCP thread got more than 22 pages was June 2023... probably not a coincidence that a certain song with 'Padam' in the title twice was fighting for a top ten place that week

Maybe book a hearing test in early next year...😉

It’s a lovely track!

I’d love Kylie to be no1 as it would hopefully reinvigorate the Christmas no1 race for future years. But XMAS isn’t a good song. Although it is catchy, I heard it 6 times this evening on the ads on Disney Plus!

There's limits to inclusivity xx

I wasn't so keen on the song initially tbh but I've grown to really like it, it's so damn catchy! Definitely going to be going on my Christmas playlist once it is added to spotify.

It's grown on me too. I'll be doing the same thing when it's avalible on all platforms.

I Should Be So Lucky was one of the first few #1s I ever remember, it's absolutely extraordinary she's still relevant after all this time.

I was fecking FIVE then!

Might see if I can stretch to another MP3.

I was 6 when I should be so lucky came out, I remember pestering my mum to buy me the record. I remember mum taking me to boots (they sold records then) I still recall her saying she would be a one hit wonder lol.

To think at 43 she will have another no 1. It's so unreal.

And the latest twist in the tale: Spotify have put Wham! back to number 1 on Christmas Hits Playlist (and Mariah down to 6).

Will this be enough to secure Wham! the Christmas Number 1? They are currently the Billboard Global Number 1 for the first time ever.

Impact will be very small surely, especially as it’s the last day of streaming tracking.

Probably. But it’s always made a massive impact on daily charts globally, in the UK and US.

And Kylie and Wham! are neck and neck at present - both aiming for around 49k. I’d say Kylie has the edge but we will know better today.

I’m always sceptical that being 1st rather than 2nd on a playlist makes a material difference, but I know if you’re saying it there must be data that backs it up.

Tom Grennan did about 39k streaming sales last year and the year before Sam Ryder did around 44k. So you’d hope Kylie could do 40k. Which means she needs 10k pure sales as a minimum. We know she’s done 5k+ physicals so hoping the downloads can match that!

I guess the reason is, people often start on track one and then press shuffle.

We’ve seen the way that when random Christmas songs are placed high up, they suddenly do well in the charts, and then plummet afterwards, for example ‘Sleigh Ride’.

And Mariah has been really struggling this year now that the number 1 position changes twice a week.

Minor changes like this have a small but significant impact. And Wham! overtook Mariah on Spotify (I can’t remember if that was globally or in the US) straight after they were moved to the top of the playlist.

The stories are endless.

As on the streaming thread there are Spotify and Apple charts, but I didn't find the Amazon chart, where is it possibile to find the current Amazon music chart with the position of Wham and Kylie?

This is hilarious and so iconic all at once! 😂

I think the thing is though for Tom and Sam Christmas was a lot closer to the chart day. For Kylie Christmas is the furthest away it can be from the chart - I imagine that streaming will pick up quite a lot from Friday onwards, as its gets closer to Christmas Day... which doesn't really help with the Christmas Number 1 this year.

There are two charts, but one of them is fairly irrelevant, because it puts several versions of each song in, and therefore, for example, Mariah is comparatively low.

The other chart you can only find if you have Amazon Music membership.
