But judging by your typing style and being a Kylie Minogue stan, you must be a senile grandpa who no longer understands charts.

And you missed the point, it doesn't matter if an artist writes their own songs, as long as they are excellent in some area to the point that no one questions their lack of commitment to their own art, Whitney being a great example, because with that voice, no one ever dared to question how far she'd come, which is clearly not the case with Kylie, who has always been mid at everything, didn't write her biggest hits and sings through her nose.Kylie to survive in the industry for almost 40 years is an excellent business woman, she has a sharp eye to land what she sees as a necessity for her career. Her graciousness with her counterparts is admirable and anyone that has worked with her has openly said how talented she is and lovely to work with.Kylie utilises what she has and is first to say that she knows some other artists have a better voice than hers but is always willing to learn and opens her mind to new ideas and she strives to always improve.Combined is just part of why she is so successful, respected and loved. As a fan I love her voice and her music both songs she has wrote and songs written by others and there are thousands like me, people like Kylie make the world a happier place which isn't something that can be said about everyone.

Kylie is a rare exception of an industry plant that only lasted in the UK because the UK has a weird habit of giving charity to retiring acts. She hasn't had a hit in the US since 2001 and hasn't had a hit in her own homeland since 2007. As has already been said, this fake #1 doesn't change the overall picture.Oh dear. Probably time you left...

You’re only one TikTok away from a big hit so it’s better for labels to keep underperformers signed.Streaming is also is not where labels make money, it’s all in 360 deals. If artists tour, even to smaller fan bases, they can still make a decent return for a label.I'm not so certain on the first point. I'll admit that I've spent the last 6 years habitually receiving major label release pressers, and what strikes me is how often you'll see an artist who got quickly signed on a surprise hit who has a half-hearted push for a little while afterwards before silently sliding off the roster. We just don't notice it because they're not usually high profile at that point. It's really easy for the labels to do this because they probably still get a huge cut from them (any new music released without backing often tends to severely underperform), what with how long these hit songs tend to endure. Maybe they were once more flippant on signing short term prospects that weren't destined for much, but I reckon Industry Rule #4080 remains as true as it was in 1991.

She had big sales in her early career while starting off and gradually, in her own words, became ‘part of her own product’.Ask any kylie fan what their top 20 best songs are & there would be many more co-writes in there. Record companies generally decided 1st singles from an album & 1st singles usually got the biggest push.I really don’t know why I’m bothering to write this. Sabrina didn’t write much of her debut, will she be around having number ones in 37 years? Time will tell.I thought they were talking about Sabrina Boys Boys Boys fame 😆

Sunday at 11:053 days Does it mean ‘planted by the industry’ or does it mean ‘behaves like a plant’? We still haven’t had an answer!I mean if it’s the latter than its an understandable (though highly debatable) matter of an opinion - but why do we need the word ‘industry’ in there? If it’s the former then: planted by whom? Or if they just mean ‘talentless’ then why not just say it rather than ridiculous and meaningless phrases like ‘industry plant’?

Sunday at 11:193 days I understand planted if it was in the sense of Kylie was on Neighbours first and someone thought we can make money from that and so was planted into the industry using their actor persona as a vehicle- but back then that was a gamble, no one knew if it would succeed, it was very organic how it happened and I don’t think anyone thought in 1987 we would be where we are now in 2025.There’s been countless of tv stars turn to pop music since, Delta included - and I guess you can say she was planted as Neighbours execs wanted a singer to launch, which is what they did. But then that falls down as Delta writes and sings her own music (apart from the occasional cover done for something themed). Her only proper single that she hasn’t written is Lost Without You and Almost Here. She also plays piano and guitar. To be honest, I think they’re just bitter that Kylie’s stats now make her the most successful, long-gerring female pop star and probably wanted that accolade to be Lady Gaga which now means she is gonna have to number ones on the 2030s and 2040s to make that happen.

Artists described as industry plants often present themselves as independent and self-made, but are alleged to have their public images manufactured for them by record labels."So basically anyone who became popular after being signed to a label is a plant apparently 😂
