  • And as ever we don’t necessarily even know what order they’re really in on Spotify because they might have different premium to free proportions.

  • All too often in this group we have focused too much on Spotify, and then being surprised that the songs doing best on Spotify aren’t always number 1. On Amazon it’s Golden followed by Man I Need. A

  • So that's basically resets confirmed for The Fate of Ophelia, WHERE IS MY HUSBAND! and So Easy (To Fall in Love), but not Man I Need or Golden, as expected.

Weird they haven't reset The Police/Diana Ross if they wanted to apply the logic they used for Kate Bush/Djo. I'm sure there would be plenty other songs showing up if they were resetting every song used in the series

no ‘Camera’ is weird cos it’s Ed… like how is it flopping 😭, ‘Something In The Heavens’ is just weird cause it was doing fine before christmas (and ACR)

‘House Tour’ can stay off the charts thank you, tho ‘Elizabeth Taylor’ and ‘The Dead Dance’ are a-ok to come back imo.

Have you not been following for the last few years, sapphire and azizam aside this era he only charted for a handful of weeks at a time

Every Breath You Take isn't in the latest series of Stranger Things, I think that has just been a TikTok boosted evergreen golden oldie á la Iris/Dreams

I hope Raye can overtake Taylor in the singles chart.

I predicted Golden as #1 in the predictions thread, but I was banking on it getting a reset.

i stopped following for around 7 months. But even then it’s weird all the time when he flops cos this the same man who randomly returned to the top 40 in 2020 with a 4 year old song / single without any push behind it. ANY time he has a less successful song it’s weird.

The guys going into his 15th year since his debut album next year he was bound to start slowing down most people dont last that long,

Also think this is an example of the way ACR makes everything seem old hat quicker than it probably should. There are like 10-15 songs max in the Spotify top 200 older than the Taylor Swift album. Let's put 95% of the chart on ACR and watch as it starts to look a lot like a chart without ACR magic

I agree, assuming you meant "newer than" not "older than"

My Life Would Suck Without You had a big jump to number 1 too, if I remember correctly

That was in the US, not the UK.

We are like a broken record now, but the OCC's policy of resetting old songs don't make sense at all. If the song is present in popular culture outside TikTok (movie, tour, death of the artist etc.) or Halloween it can get a reset right away but not if the increase is due to TikTok or Christmas other "basic" virality, unless the increase is +25% week-on-week when they basically flip a coin about it it seems. It might also help if the artist is from the UK and not called Fleetwood Mac. Did Feel Good Inc for instance ever increase 25% week-on-week?

EDIT: Looking at Spotify numbers it actually had 25.7% increase week-on-week in August.

The post is specifying climbs from within the top 40. I think P!nk still holds that record with 'So What' climbing 38-1.

In that case, "Man I need" is much more impressive jumping 35 to 8 while on ACR. History Making?

Honestly MIN has just been unlucky with timing and then ACR it would be looking at about 6/7 weeks number 1 now if it hadn't been unfortunate to go acr when it did (leaving the christmas songs on acr)

1 week at #1 officially for a song which is about to spend its 12th week at #1 on Spotify is crazy

I thought they were released a week or 2 before Christmas.

She had a 7" red vinyl, then released a marble 7" to try and get to number 1 and then this week they have released a 12" Vinyl for £7.77 and 59p downloads on her rwebsite / itunes etc it's just massively unfortunate that Taylor has also now released a 7" Raye can't catch a break!

Wonder if she might get a brits reset in February, saying that she'd probably be unlucky to get a reset at the same time as Alex
