Quartz and Dina's 'Its Too Late' is a good chill out dance track with a unique use of chime sounds. Shaznay Lewis's song is good too in the list.

  • The cut off point has been reached! It's the same points score as last year. 101 singles had a points total greater than 61 points. There were two on 62 points so I've allowed them both through rathe

VOTING HAS NOW CLOSED Thanks to the 40 people who voted. The results will start this evening.

  • Having a slice of toast while watching the evening news in honour. “I Hear You Now” was a gorgeous discovery at the 80s hit sessions, but I couldn’t quite fit it into my votes.

Craig David - Rendezvous

Debbie Harry - French Kissin' In The USA

Elton John - Blue Eyes

The Saturdays - Notorious

Status Quo - Ice In The Sun

2 Unlimited - Faces

The Veronicas - You Ruin Me

Zedd and Alessia Cara - Stay

From 1986, this was the only solo top 10 hit for Debbie Harry. Ice In The Sun was an early song by Status Quo, their second hit single in 1968. Blue Eyes gave Elton John a revival in 1982 after his previous five singles had peaked from 33 to 44. His last top 10 hit had been 'Song For Guy' in 1978. The Veronicas still have one song to come.

Only I voted for the 2Unlimited track. It is one of their most meaningful songs lyrically.

Definitely the Veronicas other #8 track is way better than 'You Ruin Me'

'Notorious' has a good and memorable chorus.

A-ha - Train Of Thought

Akon featuring Colby O'Donis and Kardinal Offishall - Beautiful

H & Claire - Half A Heart

Alison Moyet - All Cried Out

Milky - Just The Way You Are

Lionel Richie - Say You, Say Me

Donna Summer - I Feel Love (1995 re-recording)

Train Of Thought was the follow-up to A-ha's number 1, 'The Sun Always Shines On TV'. Their other number 8 is still to come. Also from the mid 80s, we have Alison Moyet's All Cried Out and Lionel Richie's US chart topper Say You Say Me which is best remembered for its sudden tempo change.

The most interesting bit of that A-ha song is that catchy panpipe riff. The song is good though.

Katy B's Broken Record is some good emotive breakbeat!

Milky - Just The Way You Are has had a bit of a recent streaming chart revival for some reason - they were talking about it a few days ago on here on the streaming chart thread!

So many good songs there! ‘All Cried Out’ is the first of mine to go - but at least somebody else voted for it. I’m surprised it has dropped out so soon, but I guess a lot of us say that about our favourite songs.

Backstreet Boys - Incomplete

The Course - Ain't Nobody

Ariana Grande - Santa Baby

Jon and Vangelis - I Hear You Now

The Jackson Five - ABC

The Lightning Seeds - You Showed Me

New Kids On The Block - Let's Try Again / Didn't I Blow Your Mind

Richard X featuring Kelis - Finest Dreams

Donna Summer, who appeared on the 11 point list, had another hit with a Jon & Vangelis song called 'State Of Independence' and they are just ahead of her on 12 points with this one from 1980. Backstreet Boys have five singles which peaked at number 8 and Incomplete is the first of the three that received votes. The original Ain't Nobody is still to come but for the moment, we have a cover by The Course. Ariana Grande makes her second appearance of the day, she still has one song left. You Showed Me is the only top 10 hit by the Lightning Seeds that isn't a version of Three Lions.

The Course's cover of Ready Or Not is way better, the Ain't Nobody version synth sounds a bit jarring and out of key.

I like the calm Vangelis style - Hot Chocolate kind of copied Vangelis' style for It Started With A Kiss, I don't mind though as it was a good song.

I just realised I overlooked t.A.T.u’s All About Us when voting - I hope that hasn’t cost them getting through!

I hope you haven’t cost them a place in the next round too! But they got votes from at least a couple of people.

How times have changed on Buzzjack, the iconic 'Life' not making it anywhere near qualification :(

Sorry, I must have missed that. Maybe you giving 28 points to her sister Cardi B made me not see her and move straight to the 26 points. The 11 points were from The Snake so I have added the 27 points to her score.

Damn, sorry Rollo, that was me. I saw it on the playlist and forgot about the reissue!

Apart from that, the only song I’ve lost so far is LL Cool Js brilliant rap ballad ‘I Need Love’

Sammy Davis Jr. - Love Me Or Leave Me

Franz Ferdinand - Matinee

Genesis - Turn It On Again

David Guetta featuring Nicki Minaj - Turn Me On

Busta Rhymes featuring Kelis and will.i.am - I Love My Chick

Sugababes - In The Middle

Soho - Hippychick

From 1980, this was the second top 10 hit for Genesis. It's one of six tracks spread around the Duke album that tell the story of Duke and Duchess. Going back to 1955, Love Me Or Leave Me was the only top 10 single by Sammy Davis Jr. Sugababes have four number 8 singles with three of them receiving votes. In The Middle is the first to drop out. From 1990, Hippychick was the only top 40 hit for Soho.
