They’re great!

It’s called punk in terms of the way they sing. It was pretty influential back in the day in the development of the sounds post 1970s.

I’m not sure they are being pushed by the industry - I heard them on R1s evening shows this time last year and their album came out in July. Maybe they are being pushed following this with the Sound Of etc but this is also their 2/3rd album.

I like them, but in fairness Geese do seem to be getting a huge industry push in America right now - and some of that has translated over here.

It wouldn’t work if people didn’t like the music though!

True, I didn’t feel they were pushed too much before the Sound of nomination but maybe I was oblivious to it lol, as you say the music has to be good. Jack played a song from their last album ‘Crusades’ when interviewing Joe Kerry a couple of weeks ago and it sounded fantastic!

My only regret is that it's not What It Sounds Like.

Otherwise they can keep 'em coming!

How It's Done is sounding huge on earphones I must say.

Great production, sounds like it cost £256 million!

I have seen the film many, many times - not necessarily out of choice but there are much worse things that get on the household telly!

I remember that Fragma and Maria Rubia song on the radio at the time. Nostalgic and a bit twee. I also remember the much cooler 'Ms Jackson' on the radio too!

Dario G's cover of 'Dream To Me' was like an early 'Opera Song (Brave New World)'. The phase in popularity of operatic trance didn't last very long in chart terms sadly!

Rui da Silva, Planet Funk and Jakatta have very good dance tracks too!

As a child I was obsessed by the holiday sunny video and sound of 'Love Don't Cost A Thing'.

And some on here dislike the U2 song but I think its good and nostalgic.

All on my NotNow 48 playlist I listen to today.

I remember them playing Oh No loads, shame it only got to #24, it's great.

They LOVED the Ed Case remix of Clint Eastwood!

I bought way too many of those on single (eight)! I presume Radio 1 snubbed It’s The Way You Make Me Feel by Steps or had chucked it off already? They used to be very snobby with Steps.

I checked the playlist every week from mid-2000 (shortly after 'Deeper Shade Of Blue') to 2002, and don't remember anything by Steps being playlisted in that time.

They normally C Listed pop artists like that - always remember Westlife being C Listed with a fair few singles!

Geezer is a duo made up of Dominic Fike & Kevin Abstract - a great song but quite a random add as it released in July.

Kevin Abstract is on tonight's Chill Zone so probably added in light of that.

They couldn't really ignore Westlife as those songs were nearly all #1s! ITWYMMF may have been C-list but fairly sure nothing of theirs after that was. They didn't playlist anything by the Backstreet Boys in that time either, I think 'Show Me The Meaning...' was the last.

It’s an interesting choice to make considering the playlist was so huge and differing in terms of genres back then. I blame Britpop 😅

Yeah I remember a lot of those big pop acts relied on basically everything but Radio 1 (Top of the Pops, CD:UK, Smash Hits magazine, The Box etc etc), but R1 were not keen.

I don't see any reason why It's The Way You Make Me Feel shouldn't have at least been on the C-List, it's just snobbery to leave it off, it was a great pop single.

Certainly it was better than that awful Dane Bowers single they C-listed, so clearly they were judging on artist and not song when it came to pop 🤣

I remember reading before on here that most of the Clubland style dance releases and Eurodance were left off the Radio 1 playlist too from 2002-4 as well.

Tune of the Week

Dean McCullough: December 10 - Run My Way

Greg James: Noah Kahan - The Great Divide

Rickie, Melvin and Charlie: TBC

Matt and Mollie: Matilda Mann - Inventing

Katie / Lauren and Emil: Arlo Parks - 2SIDED

Mega Massive Monday throwing a spanner in the works on a lot of shows but it was RMC who missed playing theirs today completely.

I remember they were ubtil they all of a sudden hit behind them from 2003/4 onwards.

Pumpin Jumpin was one of the more interesting modern dance tracks with the Rockwell/Beatfreakz style spooky synths so its a bit sad to see it go.
