And just like that, we have the final three identities revealed - and massive congratulations to Julian, Scene and Joseph for making it all the way to the top three (and for doing such a good job at concealing your identities for all this time). You’ve all been fantastic sports, as has everybody else that’s taken part and played along with all the mind games and deception to make sure they could go undetected as long as possible!

First up, we have Julian who has played an absolutely fantastic game with ABBA. An artist that could have sailed through each round with ease using hit after hit after hit, Julian decided to switch things up and not take the easy road to success by showcasing lesser-known (or at least, songs that everyone still knows and loves but weren’t ‘smash hits’) songs throughout, while still sprinkling in a lot of the ABBA classics. I’ll let Julian expand more himself if he plans on, and I hope he doesn’t mind me saying, but his strategy ended up going in a different direction than he had originally told me when he submitted ABBA. It’s led to an interesting journey for them and even if it was always anticipated they’d make it this far, there’s been curveballs and inspired choices that have made their final package, for sure, worthy of the final. And congratulations, as a first time entrant to The Pop Factor, for making it all the way to top 3!

Scene, here we are again! Fighting for the crown once again after stomping to victory in Season 1 with Avril Lavigne. All that remains to be seen now is if you’ll do the double and become the winner of both seasons of The Pop Factor, or if you’ll be passing the title on to somebody else! Kelly Clarkson’s journey in The Pop Factor has - when you consider how the game was played with Avril in Season 1 - definitely been very Scene-coded and has thrown some spanners in the works with what some might say curious choices for an artist with such a stellar discography, but nonetheless it’s those choices that have gotten Kelly to the final, and Scene appears to have found the winning formula. Although we haven’t strayed beyond a couple of Kelly eras beyond one or two big hits, it’s made for an interesting listen in rounds where people maybe haven’t listened to those songs in a long time.

And finally, managing to go undetected for the majority of the competition as Lily Allen, we have Joseph. With so many other artists in the competition to disguise himself as (Delta Goodrem, Conan Gray, Ruel, Atomic Kitten), only when we were down to the final few did the whispers of him potentially being behind Lily arrive. Much like Season 1 with The Saturdays, Joseph’s been under-the-radar as Lily but has meticulously planned out how to get her to this point. Although it didn’t quite work out at the battles and Lily was sent home against HAIM, she came back to the competition after winning the Platinum Paije Rock of Hopes and Dreams, and now she’s all the way at the top of the pack! I’m sure Joseph will have some words to say himself about his journey in the competition (#PussyPalaceGate WILL be addressed!), so for now congratulations on beating your position from Season 1 this time!

Thank you and massive well done to the three of you clap heart

well done all 3 👏

I’d definitely sussed Kelly and Lily out by the final but not ABBA! Very good gameplay from ABBA in particular who waited a while before having to play the big guns, superb use of keeping your nerve.

You’ve all played a blinder but Scene really is the king of pop forum song contests between this and the Best Of Pop end of year competition. cheeseblock

Lady BuzzJack takes pride of place on the homepage once more as Pop Fleet 26 have rescued her, freeing her from her chains on the World of Live Shows and immediately teleporting her back to safety.

But for one unlucky villain, the gig is up.

Caught, and going straight to jail...

Hi

My long-winded post about my game plan with Kelly is on my laptop so that will have to wait but relieved to talk openly about it finally! People Like Us will be addressed! gaga

I honestly thought Wardy or Addy were ABBA (at different times ofc) so well done Julian for masking yourself so well!

Would never have guessed Joseph was Lily either! I thought you were for sure the Kittens or a twink!

Before we get to announcing the winner/ the order of the top 3, Gotta have a big shout out to @Calum for being the instigator and host of the Pop Factor. A Buzzjack phenomenon and something which has brought the forum together!

It’s been a fun ride and something which I think everyone has been invested in more than we thought (or should!!!). From the shock of Branchgate to getting the old man out! From the Ace of Base’s early exit to Conan lasting to the final 4! It’s been a great journey.

You’ve been an amazing host! Thanks for taking the time to run it, organise it and come up with such a fun idea for the forum!

Also thanks for inviting me to play along and move from being annoying enthusiastic voter to mentor. Looking forward to any future series! And I think we can all agree it’s been a fantastic series! Well done Cal!!
