How well do you think Sweat will do in the UK chart?

Feel free to reply with a more specific prediction for chart position, and predict its first-week sales if you like!

We’ll find out in May who comes closest. 😎

This week, it took 7,429 sales to reach #5, 5,651 to reach #10 and 4,778 to reach #16.

Melanie C’s previous album sold 7,265 in its first week (reaching #8), which would have been enough to chart at #6 this week.

On Friday, 9th May 2025 (the equivalent week last year), #5 sold 6,186, #10 sold 4,949 and #14 sold 4,595.

Albums out on May 1st:

American Football – LP4

Benny Benassi - Feel The Bass

The Black Keys - Peaches!

The Boo Radleys - In Spite Of Everything

Cage Fight - Exuvia

Dodgy - Hello Beautiful

Haircut One Hundred - Boxing The Compass

Kacey Musgraves - Middle Of Nowhere

Lip Critic - Theft World

Melanie C - Sweat

Rita Wilson - Sound Of A Woman

Sevendust – One

Super Furry Animals - Precreation Percolation

Tori Amos - In Times of Dragons

Young The Giant – Victory Garden

I totally forgot about Cheryl... Jesus christ, that was bad. Would rather Mel C get to #1 than trash like Cheryl's music, at least MC is a proper artist that cares for her craft.

    #1 easily on iTunes

  • 5 weeks later...

Even this close to the release date, I find it hard to predict! I would like to think she can outdo the first week sales of self-titled, but by how much... hmm!

There's a lot of physical variants. I wonder if she'll have download exclusives during release week?

I'd love for her to make the Top 5 again, but anywhere Top 10 would be wonderful. Anyway, just like, @Jessie Where, I'll go with #6!

I slightly fear that the ongoing impact of the 'Michael' film on Michael Jackson's back catalogue could push her lower than a position she might have achieved earlier this year. In yesterday's midweeks there are Michael Jackson albums at #4, #7, #18, #20 and #22, largely because of strong streaming, so if he continues to surge... well, we'll see what happens.

#4 i think she will do more than the last album. Went to the nantwich gig last night was great and mel was on form. Group of women in front of me in before we went in one hadn't bought a mc album since northern star the rest never bought a album of hers and they had all got the new one in the deal. 🤞

She seems confident it will do well based on some clips from her live presentations this week. So she probably has had some good data of pre-orders

Lets just hope it holds up and it isnt a 'Top5 - OUT' type of affair this time

Of course it won't last a second week, a release like that doesn't in 2026.

Yeah unfortunately I'd be surprised if it even lasts a second week in the Top 200. I hope it can though, she's never had an album spend less than 2 weeks in the Top 200 before:

#4, 99 weeks - Northern Star

#5, 20 weeks - Reason

#24, 4 weeks - Beautiful Intentions

#57, 3 weeks - This Time

#45, 2 weeks - The Sea

#50, 2 weeks - Stages

#25, 2 weeks - Version of Me

#8, 2 weeks - Melanie C

I still think if she pushes she can achieve another top 5 album even its by the skin of her teeth but i do feel top 10 is guaranteed for her.

Just realised I voted #41 to #200 thinking it was a single release gaga Can I change my vote? x

The poll is closed now, sadly. I also voted for the 11-15 bracket but would have liked to revise this to the Top10 as it seems like it will go there now. A few months back I wasnt so sure, but the last week seems to have driven a lot of attention/focus and Mel seems confident with the state of the pre-orders so seems like a Top10 at least is a given, maybe even a Top5.

Her highest charting was #4 it would be interesting to see if she can go higher than that or at least match it. No doubt though, the huge amounts of variants are helping. Her last album didn't sell much more than her previous ones did as far as we know, the main variant was the 8 different types of variants it had, so obvsiouly sales were bumped up a bit.

Now, there's like... 15 variants, including a lanyard with a code for the album? It's crazy... I hope that and her tour pays off though, she seems to be everywhere with this campaign.

That is a very sad state of chart-narrative, damn... Specially knowing the sames havent really changed much since Beautiful Intentions either. For a while there, specially up till Version of Me, it was a case of constantly diminishing turns, bless her for keep trying.

If only she could have such dedication to make albums with a group that she belongs to?... History could have been so different

Not a chance, I'm fully expecting a peak and then out of the charts. If Perrie and Leigh-Ann can't hold up as current acts then no chance for a "mature" solo girl band member to even have a chance!

I'm going with 4 I feel really optimistic about this album. She's really pushing it with the signings, gig's, lanyard digital album download merch and I'm sure they'll be a few more things to come next week (Potential digital deluxe?)
