01 The Prodigy - Firestarter

02 Robert Miles - Children

03 Mark Snow - The X-Files Theme

One year since the ethereal 'twilight zone' made the top 10 for Ari! She seems to be vaguely teasing a new album at the moment so hopefully that does materialise.

I feel like the 2021 throwback top 10s have been pretty mediocre for a while but 'MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)' is more like it, what a song and video package. wub

'Broken Record' is an extremely forgotten top 10 hit now but a bit of a gem for me, love the way it quietly builds.

Funny that 'Crazy' should appear now after a couple of people were referencing it in last week's thread. An absolute one of a kind... especially as an EOY #1 <3

Speaking of last week's thread... I referenced the Hed Kandi compilations and 'Salsoul Nugget (If U Wanna)' was the exact kind of thing that used to appear on them *.*

It's hard not to associate 'The X-Files Theme' with memes but a unique hit nevertheless.

Miley Cyrus

Younger You

Soundtrack single from Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special

Released: 27th March 2026

Label: MCEO

Biography

“I think there’s a time in every artist’s life [when] they have to do something that isn’t for fans, isn’t for success, isn’t for touring,” Miley Cyrus once told Apple Music. Cyrus could have been speaking about any number of moments from her profoundly varied career. Born Destiny Hope Cyrus—the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus—in Tennessee in 1992, the innovative artist leaped to stardom as Disney’s Hannah Montana on the strength of perky, empowering bubblegum pop. Since then, Cyrus has worked hard to shed her wholesome teen image, securing a reputation for an intense work ethic and an unshakable self-assuredness. Her 2009 summer anthem “Party In the U.S.A.” earned her credibility in the pop world, while 2013’s Bangerz—which showcased her musical maturity with “Wrecking Ball” and experimented with elements of Dirty South hip-hop—made her an icon. Cyrus headed to other fields with 2015’s —which showcased her musical maturity with “Wrecking Ball” and experimented with elements of Dirty South hip-hop—made her an icon. Cyrus headed to other fields with 2015’s , a psych-tinged collaboration with members of The Flaming Lips; 2017’s Younger Now, a countrified pop offering that featured godmother Dolly Parton; and 2020’s Plastic Hearts, a neon-hued explosion of disco, synth-pop, and glam rock that features rockers Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks. Those frequent partnerships helped cement her as a pop pace-setter—but on the 2023 smash “Flowers,” a highlight of the breezy Endless Summer Vacation, Cyrus declared her independence and confidently reaffirmed that she’s more than capable of standing on her own. - Apple Music

Conan Gray

The Best

4th single from Wishbone

Released: 27th March 2026

Label: Conan Gray

Video

Biography

Had he been born a decade or two earlier, Conan Gray’s technique for coping with the miseries and triumphs of his last year of high school—singing into a cheap microphone in his bedroom—might never have introduced him to the world. But for the Asian-American singer/songwriter who was born in Georgetown, Texas, in 1998 and grew up worshipping Taylor Swift and getting bullied for being different, vlogging and uploading his music helped him find an audience fast. First, he sang Adele and Frank Ocean covers. Then he tried his hand at issuing his own dreamlike, emotionally fraught songs—his voice breathy and androgynous—and reached a community beyond and far bigger than his small town. In a few quick years, Apple Music named him an Up Next artist, while in 2020 Swift tweeted that she was “obsessed” with his songs. Gray’s 2017 single “Idle Town” was an ethereal, conflicted evocation of the end of high school that resonated with the hundreds of thousands who streamed it. That led Republic Records to sign him and release his 2018 debut EP, Sunset Season. Gray is a gusher of Gen Z sad songs, dark moods, and big feels, like his friend Billie Eilish. His 2020 debut album, Kid Krow, made him sound ready to headline venues on his own, thanks to the candy-colored disco creepfest “Maniac” and “Heather,” an eerie ballad about longing for and hating the person one’s crush is crushing on. Gray sounds compellingly lonely, but his circle of friends and fans keeps getting wider. “Life,” he told Apple Music in 2020, “is just hilariously ironic all the time.” - Apple Music

Happy good Friday to you all - I'm back in here for the usual chart forum visits.. don't mind if I go absolutely bonkers during the show, that's what this chart show thread is meant to be!

Yesterday marked 20 years since Gnarls Barkley's hit song "Crazy" debuted atop of the UK Singles Chart. it became so successful that they decided to remove it from iTunes to stop it from being overplayed. Some of the long-charting songs these days could do with this treatment, but on streaming platforms.

Or more accurately they deleted the physical single from store shelves; not the iTunes downloads.

Not quite the case - the physical was "deleted" (ie. they stopped production of it) so it was no longer available to buy on CD. The download remained available. As per the chart rules at the time, songs couldn't chart without an active physical release, even if they had enough downloads to chart on that basis alone.

Thanks for backing my statement up Joseph!

Hopes for today:

Bebe top 40 (obviously won't happen)

Robyn's first top 10 album

Click Clack top 10

Midnight Sun new peak

Slayyyter top 40 album (but probably unlikely)

'Crazy' managed two more weeks in the top 5 after its run at #1, as there was some convoluted rule about a physically available song being allowed to chart for two further weeks post-deletion date at the time, then it indeed vanished.
