Unfortunately in terms of new music Madonna is one of those artists that the general public dont really care about, now if she announced a tour she would still sell out venues easy peasy though

So true! But she has also had a solo top 10 in the past few years. That said, her fans were just as surprised as anyone else, and it certainly isn’t a regular occurrence for her. She just happened to be lucky enough to land the right song. (No disrespect intended to either her or the other retro acts mentioned.)

Indeed, these days the song matters the most. There are few artists that get away with releasing anything and still succeed, but most artists rely on great songs that take off.
