If done properly and fairly, this is a great thing! Need to see how it actually works in practice.

Get me those Gaga tickets without the stress and fighting over ticketmaster cheer

This is awful in my opinion. Capitalism at its best. They don’t care about actually giving ‘real’ fans the opportunity to get first access, they just want something that will force people into using the platform more in a bid to try and avoid having to go to war on Ticketmaster. And all it’ll do within fan circles is make the parasocial maniacs manipulate it as much as they can and judge others based on their Spotify activity.

My first thought is... how will people try to manipulate this? Worried it'll just lead to people putting their favourite artist on repeat overnight without listening to it to up their streams. If implemented properly then it could be a nice idea but I'm sceptical right now.

But how else would you suggest "real" fans are given priority for tickets? Things like signing up to their newsletters is meaningless and fighting for them on the day is unfair given the amount of scammers around.

For me this is a great way of rewarding fans and what better way ti show you're a fan than actually listening to the artist's music?

Yes it is also to promote Spotify but good for them for also rewarding fans in a time when it is getting increasingly harder to see artists live!

I like what the intention of this seems to be, but I'm wary about the execution of it.

This will not solve the issue of there simply not being enough tickets for everyone who would want to attend the event sometimes. The only solution is for artists to offer multiple dates but it will never going to happen because exclusivity creates FOMO and even more hype and attention and money.

Let’s gamify getting concert tickets even more now. Only on Spotify

This world is doomed lol
