Saturday at 17:121 day I mean all I said was ‘you have to laugh’ which I don’t think was that much of a bad thing to say? And of course I drew up with evidence from this very thread. Gezza even noted she was the highest selling singles act of the decade not to get a no.1-and quite a way above any of the others (I didn’t even use specific examples of those.)All I was trying to do was remark about an artist’s success in the context of a recent discussion. There was no attempt at all to insult anyone with what I said and I’ll definitely be thinking twice before I enter any discussion about anything from now on.

Not having a go at all (again I do apologise if it comes across that way ❤️) just stating a fact. The rest has really just been a fair and interesting discussion, you actually sparked a good debate. ☺️I also want to say, I do agree with you Janet Jackson was a big artist for sure, I personally don't think anyone was saying she wasn't successful, just that they didn't think she was on the same level as certain other acts mentioned. That was my take on it (I may have read that wrong of course).
Saturday at 20:241 day Ooh, I loved Janet Jackson.Like her brother, she released so many singles from each album and loads of those were massive in the US - I think she had 5 or 6 #1s over there just in the 90s - and I think they all just got thrown out here as well with diminishing returns or varied success. She wasn't Madonna. She wasn't Whitney. But she was Janet... Miss Jackson if you're nasty!! 😉
Yesterday at 09:421 day Author NO 18- WILL SMITH/ FRESH PRINCE (3,260,200)13 UK TOP 40 HITSBIGGEST HIT: MEN IN BLACK (881,000) Benefitting from the sales of DJ Jazzie Jeff & Fresh Prince have helped Will Smith into the top 20 and over the 3 million mark. In addition to two No 1 singles he also had three No 2 hits fusing together dance and rap into an irresistible mix. He managed all of this in conjunction with an acting career which saw brand “Smith” turn almost everything he touched to gold in the late 90s. His success petered out in the 00s as a chart act and we’ll glaze over the last major media incident that involved him……
Yesterday at 09:441 day Author NO 17- GEORGE MICHAEL (3,301,100)16 UK TOP 40 HITSBIGGEST HIT: FASTLOVE (478,000) Recording an incredible 13 top 10 hits and 4 No 1’s Michael had an impressive 90s career to add to his 80s achievements (he was No 32 on the corresponding 80s list). He was inactive during much of the mid 90s due to litigation reasons, and only recorded charity records between 1991-1995, but come 96 he was back with a new album “Older”. He became the first act to lift six top 3 singles from one studio album, and it was good timing that he returned to the fray in 96, as he became one of 12 acts to sell a million records in what was a bumper year for singles sales....
23 hours ago23 hr Will Smith was not on my radar one bit! 🤯Great to see George Michael in there though. He had a great solo career.

17 hours ago17 hr Will Smith wasn’t on my radar for this either! It makes sense now he’s been revealed but I think it would have taken me quite a while to guess him

13 hours ago13 hr Funny that 'Men In Black' and 'Fastlove' should drop out as back-to-back highlighted biggest sellers here, with them both interpolating the same song!
