  • At the risk of sounding like a pop critic between Adela & Miley Cyrus this weekend - I think this album is a solid first album for her and it’ll act as a great base for her to grow as an artist, e

looks like she might take the #1 album by Friday - she's only 332 sales behind Kasabian and her stronger streaming'll probably close the gap by then unless they push some variants

Her making Ain't In LA the final song on the tracklist making it close out on a banging note omg the brain she has!! I couldn't be more excited for this and I'm gutted that I'm not seeing her this evening 😭

Tickets go live tomorrow for her next London gigs and one is on my ACTUAL birthday omg cheeseblock

Two bonus tracks for this one. There’s one available on iTunes called Kiss Here, and another exclusive to digital download of the bonus edition from her store, entitled NastyDirtyGross

(Mostly - heard the 3 singles) First listen thoughts

01. KGB | A great lead single. One that's just continuously growing and growing on me.

02. Nicole Kidman | Smooth. Probably more of a grower than it is an immediate grabber. Cute.

03. I'm The Man | Not an immediate favourite for me. A bit repetitive and gets grating a bit.

04. Boys | This is more like it! There's something quite Britney meets PCD with this! My favourite new song so far!

05. Red Bottoms | I LOOOOVE this. This is what Tate's songs *should* sound like to me but unfortunately I can't get on board with TM's vocals, so this is much more for me! It's such an underrated banger!

06. Hitachi | I do love a good ballad moment and I think this does a great job at sounding like it fits really well in context of the album and not sounding out of place! It's lovely!

07. Fantasize | Cute song. The kind of "album filler" that compliments the album. Not a standout but serves its purpose on the album! Early 00's sounding and it's a bop!

08. Starving Artist | There's something about this that's quite captivating and I'm here for it! Strikes me as one of those tracks that will get unfairly underlooked! THE ENDING!! YESSS!

09. Marijuana | The production is great. When it explodes is so good... ended quite quickly lmao. TOO SHORT.

10. Therapy | The vocal production flares throughout are cute. Love the simple piano backing. A cute song!

11. Ain't In LA | I know everyone seems to prefer/love 'KGB' more (I get it!) but this is one of my favourite songs of the year and my favourite from her. SO SO SOOOOO good!

Overall thoughts:

A really solid and strong debut. Looking forward to familiarising myself more with the album tracks. It works as a whole AND has room for songs to stand out on their own. 'Boys' has GOT to get a push and hopefully a video! There's a really strong 00's vibe to this and I love it. It's done in such a tasteful way where it's clearly influenced by that era and not just trying to retread that same sound (if that makes sense?).

First ranking:

01. Ain't In LA

02. KGB

03. Boys

04. Red Bottoms

05. Hitachi

06. Starving Artist

07. Fantasize

08. Nicole Kidman

09. Therapy

10. Marijuana - I wish this was longer! Ugh.

11. I'm The Man

Oh... the new tracks are already hitting quite a bit harder on 2nd listen lmaoooo.

Yeah I'm going to be sticking with this album for a while! wub

That balance between instant favourites and slower growers is actually what keeps the whole thing interesting. I get a similar feeling browsing https://tropical-casino.com/ Tropical Casino sometimes — one night I’ll gravitate toward faster slots, another toward live games or something with a completely different pace. Having that variety keeps it from feeling too samey.

I’ll add those to the OP/keep an eye on whether they end up getting a wider release later. The titles alone have me intrigued, especially NastyDirtyGross.

not doing much for me outside of KGB and Ain't In LA on my second listen unfortunately, quite a few of these album cuts kinda feel like offcuts from that Tate McRae album/deluxe from last year. granted, I did think that album was fine enough and many of these songs are too, but this honestly feels like quite a downgrade from The Provocateur.

Hmmm I wanted to be obsessed with this but it's so boring / flat. The standouts are BY FAR Aint In LA and KGB (Also Love Red Bottoms) but the rest I'm not clicking with it was a real struggle to get through.

I think this is a really solid debut album! I don't think it consistently hits the highs of The Provocateur but it's still a fun album that shows Adela's drive to become a popstar. KGB and Ain't In LA are definitely the highlights for me, she chose the right singles to release before the album!

Most things I’ve heard from her sound like second rate Maddison Beer rubbish when KGB shows she’s capable of really exciting pop bangers.

The songs we already heard are the highlights on first listen but I also love Fantasize, Marijuana and I’m The Man, the rest I can picture growing on more listens. I’d actually say Nicole Kidman is probably the least impactful so interesting that she chose to give this a video and a bit of extra attention.

did you listen to her EP The Provocateur from last year? that leans a lot more into the KGB-style sound and I'd argue it's a lot better than PRIMA.

Idc, this album is fulfilling a much needed pop shaped hole in my heart rn. It’s so good. Everything is just growing on me.

I can’t get over ‘Boys’ though. Such a great song! I wish that was the song being pushed (although NK is growing on me).

‘Starving Artist’ and ‘Fantasize’ are both great too. Loving it.

new single is terrible and i'm literally a top dog adéla fan, been here for so goddamn long but i fear this ain’t it. I'm The Man is whatever. Pretty much all of the other tracks on the album are exceptional though, loving ‘Boys’ the most.
