Tragedy is actually a great cover that deserves to be remembered as it is. Shame Heartbeat is Double-A with it (now there's your bad video!)

5,6,7,8 deserves a higher chart peak for it longevity!

They really didnt have much originality early on when you think about it 😮

All these emotions geri

So we have Chain reaction, Tragedy, Stomp, Better the devil you know and their debut.

And Deeper would’ve been a perfect #1 for them if you ask me ❤️

I think all of their biggest hits ARE bops but if we’re talking overrated - I think it’s a shame that 5,6,7,8 is one of their staples to the every day Joe on the street. While Steps ARE cheesy and that’s part of their charm, I think that they have much better quality cheese in that back catalogue. Deeper Shade Of Blue, in a just world, should be their signature song to the wider public, not 5,6,7,8 or Tragedy imo.

The fact it’s not even in their top 10 on Spotify is WILD.

5,6,7,8 is my pick too, a line dance novelty being their most played song when they have released some of the best pure pop songs of the last 30 years.

I heard Deeper Shade of Blue in McDonald's the other day. It's very rare to hear their songs out in the wild away from the obvious couple so that was fun.

I'll probably also say 5, 6, 7, 8 because of its stream count. I enjoy it in its way, but I almost separate it from the rest of their discography as it's not really that representative of what they went on to do afterwards.

5, 6, 7, 8 is probably the song I revisit the least out of their singles discography along with last thing on my mind & one for sorrow. I feel their first few singles sound really dated compared to the rest.

I find it interesting that 5,6,7,8 is their most streamed by miles, as it wasn’t their biggest hit?

Glad you heard DSOB ❤️ you enjoy their new material @Rep_101 ?

Yeah I love their newer material. Think I prefer it over the older stuff. It sounds maturer but still with that solid steps sound. Scared of the dark, something in your eyes & heartbreak in this city are my favourites. Also think take me for a ride is underrated.

Tragedy for me

I’ve learnt to love it more and I love what it did for Steps. But I was always a much bigger fan of Heartbeat and I was gutted that it kind of got put to one side

New era (and this isn’t rage baiting), I don’t always get the hype around Neon Blue. But this might be because I didn’t think it was on a level with original era Steps

Id say its more to do with its party dance and line dancing playability more than anything

Realistically it’s the only Steps song I ever hear on a (straight) night out. So the younger generations will most likely know of 5678 and may even choose to listen to it (ok I can dream!)

I can’t imagine many people under the age of 20 would really know or recognise Loves Got a Hold on my Heart or Say You’ll Be Mine for example.

But also playlisting will definitely help. I’m sure it’ll be on some Spotify party playlists alongside DJ Casper, Whigfield and the likes!

True and I think the playlists helps their debut getting those streams too. I was just wondering why Tragedy isn’t their most streamed as it is their biggest UK/global hit?

And from their new era I find Story a bit overrated. I expected more with the people involved and the video is a bit ‘meh’ if you ask me.

it’s a pleasant 7/10 for me. It’s just a bit too slow and ploddy overall I think.

HOWEVER, the 7th Heaven Remix is truly delightful!
