This song could’ve (potentially) been half decent if ANYBODY else was singing it.

Biography

Malcolm Todd's warm songs combine a fluid alternative R&B sound with the emotional outlook of an indie singer/songwriter. Todd began making music at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and released his first EP, Demos Before Prom, in 2022. A second EP, Shower Shoes, followed in 2023, and singles such as "Art House" and especially the viral break-up song "Roommates," garnered attention online. In 2024, he released two more EPs, which were then combined and expanded into the mixtape Sweet Boy. Showcasing his playful and yearning experimental R&B-pop, his official debut album, simply titled Malcolm Todd, landed near the midpoint of the Billboard 200 upon its release in 2025. This song is just kind of like the musical equivalent of ready salted crisps that don't have a lot of salt on them.

Some groups spend years chasing stardom, and others seem to just instantly will it into existence. The latter was certainly the case with Manchester’s Oasis, who named the first song on their first album “Rock ’n’ Roll Star” as if their fate were preordained.
