Patiently waiting on the Spotify update but I don’t think it will be huge today, her death was announced around tea time or something right? I still expect a lot of songs in though today

Streams are fairly low high up the chart currently that even with the limited time we could see a big impact today. But the biggest update will likely be tomorrow with the full 24 hours.

Still going ❤️

Really do hope she has a huge impact this week and next week ❤️

we should try and arrange a Dolly campaign next week! To all download a particular song of hers to try and challenge for #1.

Her deaths had major coverage across TV today. This Morning had segments dedicated to her thoroughly out the show and I imagine BBC had similar. There’s a documentary showing on iPlayer too if anyone’s interested!

Sorry Sienna, Stella and Ella if Jolene can get to number one I am here for it 9 to 5.

Jolene probably has the best chance, but i would LOVE to see 9 to 5 go #1 especially as it never even hit the top 40. Also in other news Please Please Please remix is at #180 on pop

Nice to see 'The Bargain Store' appearing, that's one of the few Dolly songs that I'm familiar with and really like!

I wish the OCC would relax their 3 track cap as it is so frustrating in cases like this that songs people are connecting with don’t get a chance to chart.

Such an iconic artist so I am glad she is getting a lot of love. Wouldn’t be surprised based on the Apple performance so far if we do see some Dolly make the top 40 on Friday, given the low sales climate we’re currently in.

I agree. They seem to have done it in response to Ed Sheeran having 9 songs in the top 10 (or an artist having most of their album high up the charts in general). But really nobody cared when Rihanna had 5 songs in the top 40, or when Michael Jackson had 10 in the top 100.

I personally, instead of the 3-song rule, would've done an artist's 2nd top song has it's sales multiplied by 0.9, their 3rd top song's sales multiplied by 0.9*0.9, their 4th top song by 0.9*0.9*0.9, and so on.

Maybe the multiplier would have to be lower than 0.9. The Ed Sheeran week was the most extreme example, so whatever multiplier would've given him a non-controversial number of top 10s that week. I think if he got maybe 5 in the top 10 it might've gone relatively unnoticed and not got complained about in the media and by the public.

Happy to see "Why'd You Come In Here Looking Like that" charting so well and "Two Doors Down" appearing in the top 100 on Apple Music!

Do we think the OCC may make an exception for Dolly charting? I don't think we've seen such an instance where so many songs by an artist may reach new peaks or chart for the first time? I don't think we've seen a death-related chart boost since the 3 track rule came into force this big and the ones we have seen, such as Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin, had already high-peaking hits re-charting.

It would be nice but I think if they did it for one artists they’d have to do it again full stop! I think the rule will likely stay but we’ll definitely see some big boosts.

I wonder how the album chart will work too if several albums outsude studio albums (like Greatest Hits type albums) will re-enter or if they’ll dedicate one particular album for that.

I doubt it but surely Islands shouldn't be a part of the 3 track rule since its Kenny's album its on

Jolene for the number 1! (Probs has the best shot)

My personal favourites though which will no doubt be overlooked some are Coat Of Many Colours, The Bargain Store, Backwards Barbie and Dumb Blonde ❤️

Remember seeing a local queer musician perform a few times and they mainly did originals but the one cover they did do was “Bargain Store”, which is how I got to know that song

The Bargain Store is so underrated!!

Now if only ‘All Alone On Christmas’ could enter the Top 40 this year!

My 10 year nephew and his friends at the loved the blue smoke album (both the original cd and the greatest hits second disc). they only knew Dolly from Hannah Montana / being Miley Cyrus’ aunt and become lifelong fans ever since.

I don’t believe Dolly is Miley’s aunt, just her godmother.
