7 hours ago7 hr So… iamamiwhoami… if you were here between 2010 and 2014, you would know that this is my favourite artist ever, so there was no point in hiding this fact. Although I did keep silent and try to put yammy in 2nd spot in my votes sometimes… but I doubt this worked on any of the legacy queens who were part of buzzjack from at least the 2010s.Week 1: I honestly forgot that we have to send a sang right away when submitting our artists so I had no time to think and went with a true buzzjack classic - ‘play’. I was ecstatic that I got them but the round 1 result was disappointing although not that surprising. It’s not exactly the song that would take the pop forum by storm.Week 2: I knew I wanted to go for something stronger and blue the album is full of buzzjack friendly bangers so I settled on the incredible ‘chasing kites’ which is probably low top 5 for me from the album. It finished joint 2nd which was a great confidence booster.Week 3: now this was a head scratcher. These guys haven’t had any non-singles released during their first three album eras. And I did not want to send anything from their 4th - ‘be here soon’ - which is my least favourite yammy album, although it was their most pure pop creation. I just found it bland and uninteresting enough for this. However, technically three songs from blue were not released as singles prior to the album release and ‘shadowshow’ was one of them. They still got released as singles afterwards but Calum gave me a green light so I went with shadowshow. I couldn’t believe that it actually won that round.Week 4: Riding high on that dopamine I wanted to take a risk this time and went with the ✨pretentiously named✨ ‘t’ - one of my favourite songs from bounty. It finished 10th in BJSC back in the day so I didn’t think it was going to that much of a flop. As soon as the votes started to come in, I kind of gave up. But in the end it managed to squeeze in and still keep me in the game. Week 5: now that my goal to send at least one song from each album was achieved, I needed to focus on slayage and the theme was ‘slight best’ so ‘blue blue’ needed to be sent this time. Little did I know that Calum was going to play the biggest prank on us all and cancel democracy in favour of some good old drama involving me… for the second year in a row.Unsurprisingly, yammy was eliminated partly because we already had too many synth bands, apparently. I already stated before that I found that decision disappointing, it was unfair and a copout purely due to the reasons given. Five bands from 80s/90s were still left in the competition so the ‘variety’ reason didn't make any sense either. I understand that it’s difficult to go against some of people’s favourite bands ever but I would rather have that reality check than lip service. So, the last ESL act was officially eliminated with one of the best songs that would definitely finish top 3 that round, if it were up to the public.Gaga 🐮 🐮:I knew none of the songs had a chance against ETS so I gave up and I went with my personal favourite from blue that also lyrically fit my mood and position in this competition - ‘the last dancer’ - a beautiful underrated somber banger. The life has gone from this roomThere’s no future for me hereFinal thoughts:f*** you @Calum you fugly slut.I’m jk thanks for doing this, it must be a gargantuan effort each week. 😘All in all, this was fun. I sent at least one song from each of the three albums I wanted to showcase here, won a round and finished 2nd in another one. And someone bought blue CD which was amazing to see! Come to the dark side mama!!!I would have loved to not be the butt of the joke for the second year in a row here but hey, at least ✨variety✨ and 🌈democracy🌈 won.And remember… “If you can’t love yourself keep behaving like this I fear people will deliberately not vote you as they won't want you back in”.
6 hours ago6 hr Wow fair play to Calvin for almost making it, even with an onslaught of tactical votes!

6 hours ago6 hr @vampavi Thank you for introducing me to this act. Shadowshow is my discovery of this tournament and my current #1.
6 hours ago6 hr I’ve not posted much this season, but yes... I was behind Years & Years! Did any of you guess that it was me?Following on from Louise and Conan Gray, I wanted to "complete the set" by sending a group this time and I eventually landed on Years & Years. I like them and they have a lot of great songs, but I feel more casual about them in comparison to the passion and emotional investment I had with Louise and Conan Gray. So this felt like a bit of a different approach for me.I feel compelled to touch on #featuregate, but I want to stress right off the bat that none of this is personal, especially to Jaz 💖 It's all fun and games of course. This is just me reflecting on this from the point of view of being the Years & Years mentor.Personally, I feel that Years & Years being the featured artist on 'Sunlight' at least somewhat counting against them was a bit gutting. I understand that it was explained how this was only a small factor to it and that there were other reasons too. In essence it was the same sort of release as Robyn with Röyksopp and Zara Larsson with Clean Bandit, however they both progressed (and I'm happy that both of them did, by the way!). The reasoning across the judging felt a little... inconsistent. 😇In defence of 'Sunlight': Olly sings it and also has a co-writing credit. I also thought it was worth pointing out that, as well as The Magician, the song is also co-produced by Mark Ralph. He has production credits on every song from Years & Years - Communion, and he also co-wrote 'Ties' and 'King'. To me, this lends to 'Sunlight' authentically coming across as being a Years & Years song as well as a The Magician song.I fully appreciate that it was a tough task for the judges though, with them needing to make decisions and give reasons. Ultimately it's just the way the cookie crumbles and it's in the past now!Aww, 'King' not managing to get Years & Years back in for the live shows. 💔 Well done Depeche Mode (+ Kate Bush and Gary Numan) for returning. Funnily enough, both Louise and Conan Gray got back in at this stage, but I couldn't manage that for a third time! I think I played it as well as I could have done, there were certainly still a few hits and strong album tracks left in the tank (I was eyeing up sending 'Gold' at some point). I was happy to showcase 'Ties'!Anyway, this has been great fun as always. I look forward to the live shows beginning and seeing what Calum has in store for us! Good luck to everyone still in the running. 😁

4 hours ago4 hr Thanks Calum for all your hard work - as ever but with this round especially! The write ups are lovely. I may or may not have been expecting to be out.Last time’s equivalent round was horribly cruel to the retro acts, with “Call Me” and “Careless Whisper” not even making it. So it was nice that that wasn’t repeated: the results were almost too kind to the retro acts this time, but I think it’s swings and roundabouts. Let’s do some guesses then:Adele - PaddingtonMarina - RichSophie - JosephZara - JackKate - JulianSam F - ElectroboyDarin - RobTom - LeeSam S - SpiceboyGary - JadeTexas - MangøNew Order - JimBananarama - DaTiltFontaines - BrayDepeche Mode - DanI may or may not have got my own correct. 😜
4 hours ago4 hr If only I’d thought to send Marina!I agree on Kate Bush at least 😂 and quite a few others make a lot of sense too.
4 hours ago4 hr Author For the first time, going to comment on predictions and say that Julian has guessed 14 of 15 participants correctly(but won't comment on any of the actual identity guesses) so everybody make of that what you will x
4 hours ago4 hr Lol my predictions of what will be close or not being trash again - Kate/Agnes actually being the least close top 2 and that is with a presumably shrunk points allocation with the field being only 7 songs instead of 8.So close between Gary and Calvin instead! Also Bladee almost not being last *.* (did he have a deduction? x)Presuming it's double eliminations every round from now on (and the judges coming back to face more ire) - scared of what the themes will be ddd. I may or may not have chosen to play a big hitter this time just to hopefully avoid the ignominy of being out in the first live show, maybe I'll get more creative after that x
3 hours ago3 hr I’m sure Calum’s fibbing about me getting 14/15 haha! Also meant to say I really hope dandy* is OK -I’d noticed he hadn’t been posting much.
3 hours ago3 hr it was fun mentoring milica and all the hype i initially sent another female singer though immediately clocked her not being european so went with a balkan hitmaker (and one that's quite well-known within the eurovision fan contests circle). glad i made it to round 2 with one of her very few songs that actually made the 2nd listening for me

I think DaTilt might the one who isn't participating as I can't remember seeing him voting much.
