Before Judges' Houses: Part Two began, dandy* sadly made the decision to step away from the competition. However, dandy* really did play the game brilliantly with a BuzzJack favourite in Robyn, and it's very likely that she would have saw an improvement on his debut with Erasure in Season 2 of The Pop Factor. We had classic songs that many know and love that saw her perform consistently well in the leaderboard each round, and we also had some riskier choices that still stood up among the others in what has absolutely been a bloodbath category all season with massive hits flying around left and right. So thank you very much dandy*, and I hope you're doing okay. ❤️

aw I'm sorry for Addy, rough to be eliminated before that by 1 point on the previous round with a very tenuous premise! I ranked 'We Found Love' 4th and didn't actually have a problem with Rihanna's presence on it, it's just not one of my top faves from Calvin. 'Cars' was my top choice so I'm delighted it's given Gary another chance!

Hoping for a retro full house with Kate progressing next...

Yes, I was Ultravox. While I could have been one of the other retro acts, I don't think anyone else would have picked Ultravox so it was fairly obvious. I made a big mistake picking All Stood Still in week 4 when there were plenty of other hit singles to choose from. I should really have chosen Hymn that week which probably would have done better, leaving me with Dancing With Tears In My Eyes which I think Judge Jaz would have liked and then Reap The Wild Wind might have got past the Sade song that few liked in the top 10 on Spotify week. For the bottom 10 on Spotify week, I might have come up with something to beat that Depeche Mode song as there seem to be some good ones in the bottom ten above 100K once you remove the live songs and remixes. So I might have avoided the Golden Wagner round if I didn't take that risk on week 4.

I did tell Calum in week 1 that he was using an early photo from the 70s when John Foxx was the lead singer before Midge Ure joined the group and asked him to replace it but he didn't reply to me. This is what they actually look like:

Breaking up the United Kingdom vs. Sweden battle in the solo female category, uhsting gave us the absolute pleasure of having Milica Pavlović, from Serbia, in the competition despite it being a stay of the short and sweet variety. Although Milica ended up being eliminated at the Arena Auditions in Amsterdam this was an improvement on uhsting's debut performance in Season 2 with Markus Riva (ignoring that the first round in Season 2 was a non-elimination round x). One thing's for sure, uhsting will always bring a different flavour to the competition, and it was good to see some rallying behind Milica, whether ironically or otherwise.

Also ranked 'Cars' first so great for old man Gary getting through and 'Enjoy The Silence' obviously a classic so deserved for Depeche Mode too.

I’m genuinely proud of how I’ve managed Calvin up to this point, especially considering the noise surrounding his participation from the very moment he was announced!!!
And We Found Love wasn’t even on my original list of songs to submit. I’m Not Alone was my first choice, but I must admit that reading all the comments about how unfair his participation supposedly was got a little discouraging (and Calum knows it!). In the end, I thought to myself, why not go out with a proper banger? If anything, let’s make it a memorable one.

Poor Milica, knew it was Uhsting anyway as they sent her to PFSC with this same song, but it became obvious when Uhsting stopped voting after she went out. She does have some very boppy songs but that category was savage, so an underdog was never going to go that far.

Hope Dandy is ok, Robyn was played really well indeed and definitely could have contended.

oh that's a shame to see Sir Calvin out as he could have gone a lot further in the contest but Gary Numan was my second fave so yay for more old man rep after Depeche Mode getting through for the groups

I now wonder how many thought I was behind Calvin and now have to change their prediction
