She was on track to do so again this week but falls just short, with Patient Zero (No.1, 46,993 sales, including 3,616 digital downloads and 43,377 sales-equivalent streams), Cleveland (No.3, 25,360 sales) and Babylon (No.4, 24,906 sales) travelling in formation all week but eventually being split up at the death by former incumbent Great Expectation by Sienna Spiro, which nestles between the former pair as it dips 1-2 (28,430 sales).Swift’s new chart entries – and the ‘starred-out’ Pink Clouding (23,716 sales) – are new additions to the Encore edition of The Life Of A Showgirl, which marks its first anniversary by surging 84-1. The Fate Of Ophelia (17,810 sales) and Opalite (11,575 sales) earn resets, but are also ‘starred-out’ under primary artist regulations. Swift has now had 83 Top 75, 64 Top 40, 37 Top 10, 19 Top 3 and eight No.1 hits. Five songs have been hits in both original and later Taylor’s Version incarnations. She co-wrote all of her No.1s, five of them with producer Jack Antonoff, the others, including Patient Zero, with Max Martin and Shellback. Swift and Shellback have both co-written eight number ones, but Martin has now racked up 25, both on his own and in collaborations.Registering the highest consumption of any track for 11 weeks, Patient Zero is Swift’s third No.1 of 2026, and the seventh of her No.1s to debut at the summit – only Opalite didn’t – a record for any solo artist. Seven of Swift’s No.1s – all except Look What You Made Me Do in 2017 - have occurred in the 2020s, putting her ahead of Ed Sheeran (six) and Lewis Capaldi (five) as the artist with most No.1s so far this decade. The only female in chart history with more solo No.1s than Swift is Madonna (12 solo plus a Justin Timberlake collaboration). Although Rihanna has nine No.1s, she has solo billing on only three. Ariana Grande and Kylie Minogue match Swift with eight No.1s in total but only five of Grande’s and seven of Minogue’s are solo. With The Life Of A Showgirl returning to the top of the album chart, Swift does the double for the eighth time in her career, following Midnights/Anti-Hero in 2022; 1989 (Taylor’s Version)/Is It All Over Now (Taylor’s Version) in 2023; The Tortured Poets Department/Fortnight (feat. Post Malone) in 2024 and The Life Of A Showgirl/The Fate Of Ophelia for four (non-consecutive) weeks last year. The only acts to do it more are The Beatles (45 times!), Elvis Presley (21 times), Cliff Richard (11 times), ABBA (11 times) and Ed Sheeran (11 times). Last week, the top six were all by female solo artists for only the third time in chart history. This week, ‘only’ the top five are, with Jamie Miller’s Babydoll (8-6, 23,335 sales) lining-up behind Ella Langley's Choosin’ Texas (2-5, 24,419 sales) to curtail the sequence. It is, however, the only song in the Top 10 NOT by a female solo artist, those not already mentioned being Boston (3-7, 22,792 sales) by Stella Lefty, The Cure (6-8, 22,226 sales) by Olivia Rodrigo, Nicole Kidman (4-9, 20,016 sales) by Adéla and Stop The Wedding! (9-10, 19,319 sales) by Ashe. Of the entire Top 10 only the songs by Ella ‘n’ Stella suffer a dip in support week-on-week. Vacating the Top 10 to make way for Swift: Training Season (5-11, 18,464 sales) by Dua Lipa, Rein Me In (7-12, 18,130 sales) by Sam Fender & Olivia Dean and My Body Isn’t Ready (10-13, 17,297 sales) by Sombr. Rein Me In’s dip bring to an end its record run of 39 consecutive weeks in the Top 10 – four more than previous record holder, I Believe by Frankie Laine. Its overall (non-consecutive) tally of weeks in the Top 10, at 49, is inferior only to Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You, though the latter disc, which increases consumption week-on-week by 9.73% to 1,432 units this week, will inevitably return and extend its lead later this year. Twelve weeks after it entered the extended version of the chart at No.76, viral hit Mi Chico finally explodes into the Top 75 surging 80-36 (8,996 sales) for DJ Goja, Jason Derulo & Melody. It is the first hit for Romanian Goja, (who previously released a solo version of the track), and for Brazilian singer Melody; and the 32nd hit for Derulo, who last charted back in 2021. Released more than a year ago, Unethical (No.71, 5,899 sales) has gone viral, increasing consumption for 11 weeks in a row, to become the debut hit for 26-year-old singer/songwriter Faouzia, born in Morocco but raised in Canada. Also new to the Top 75: Storm II (No.73, 5,720 sales), the introductory hit for French multimedia duo Gener8ion and Swedish rapper Yung Lean; and Bad Times (97-75, 5,552 sales), the second hit for Hungarian AI entity Imael Angel, recently No.2 with Hugel & Ultra Naté collaboration, Movin’ To The Sun. No.38 in July, Danceteria is a re-entry for Madonna at No.22 (12,456 sales), thanks primarily to the release of the new Danceteria Afterhours duet version of the track with Charli XCX. That total includes 5,687 sales of three CD variants, each of which include the solo original, the Charli XCX version and the Harry Romero remix. There is also a new peak for Comes And Goes (65-54, 7,315 sales) by Kettama, Overall singles consumption is down 0.12% week-on-week to 29,600,824 units, 2.86% below same week 2025 sales of 30,472,567 units. Paid-for sales are up 5.92% week-on-week at 262,177, 1.75% below same week 2025 sales of 266,841.Albums01 29,591 Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl [14,640 CDs, 66 vinyl, 2 cassettes, 735 downloads, 14,148 streaming] [total: 815,618]02 23,527 Keo - Put a Smile On for Me03 16,199 Nothing But Thieves - Stray Dogs04 11,928 Olivia Rodrigo - you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love05 9,513 Michael Jackson - The Essential06 9,204 Oasis - Time Flies... 1994-200907 8,710 Olivia Dean - The Art of Loving08 8,493 SIENNA SPIRO - Visitor09 7,453 Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory?10 7,153 Fleetwood Mac - 50 Years: Don't Stop11 6,608 The Weeknd - The Highlights12 6,364 Noah Kahan - The Great Divide16 xx,xxx Oasis - Definitely Maybe26 3,550 Soft Cell - Danceteria30 3,155 Europe - Come This Madness35 2,948 Tinashe - Popstar45 2,673 Suede - Coming Up49 2,608 Alice In Chains - MTV Unplugged57 2,499 Orbital - Glastonbury 199464 2,322 Gurriers - Nobody's Coming to Save You65 2,311 LINKIN PARK - Unshatter Film Soundtrack (Live in São Paulo)75 2,180 beabadoobee - Pylonxxx 487 Roger Taylor - Violence Insane in a Beautiful WorldCompilations01 3,306 Northern Exposure Redux: Sasha & John Digweed [2,356 CDs, 633 vinyl, 317 downloads]02 2,772 KPop Demon Hunters05 1,643 Northern Exposure Redux (South)06 1,496 Northern Exposure Redux (North) QuoteEnding a run of 13 consecutive weeks when a new album debuted at No.1, The Life Of A Showgirl returns to pole position for Taylor Swift after a 46-week gap.Surging 84-1 after the release of its new The Encore edition – which adds Patient Zero, Cleveland!, Babylon and Pink Clouding – the album increased consumption 1297.12% week-on-week to 29,591 units (14,640 CDs, 66 vinyl albums, two cassettes, 735 digital downloads and 14,148 sales-equivalent streams) and racks up its fifth week at No.1 in total, exactly a year after its initial release. Absent from the Top 75 for the last nine weeks, The Life Of A Showgirl racked up the highest first week sales of Swift’s career (423,444 units) but has yet to sell that many in the entire period since, with a to-date tally of 815,618 units placing it eighth in her canon. Swift has spent a grand total of 37 weeks at No.1, a total exceeded by The Beatles (176), Elvis Presley (66), ABBA (58), The Rolling Stones (49), Ed Sheeran (49), Adele (42), Simon & Garfunkel (40) and Robbie Williams (38). 33 of those weeks have come in the 2020s, in which decade her nearest rival is Ed Sheeran, with 10 weeks at the top. Swift’s surge is tough on Keo, a London-based alt-rock/post-grunge quartet whose popularity is founded on word of mouth, incendiary live performances and their 2025 EP Siren. Keo hit the ground running, and were set for a No.1 debut with their introductory album, Put A Smile On For Me until a tranche of CDs of the new version of Swift’s album were unleashed on Wednesday.Achieving first week consumption of 23,527 units, Put A Smile On For Me would have been the first debut album by an act without as much as a low-charting single to open at No.1 since The Lathums’ first LP, How Beautiful Life Can Be did so five years ago this very week.Keo’s lead vocalist and guitarist Finn Keogh wrote all 11 songs on the album (one with Gulliver Ellis), and has just turned 23. His bandmates are 25-year-old brother Conor Keogh (bass), 22-year-old Jimmy Lanwern (guitar) and 27-year-old drummer Oli Spackman.Keo’s robust debut was always going to deny Essex band Nothing But Thieves the chance to secure their second No.1 with Stray Dogs, which opens at No.3 on consumption of 16,199 units, 18.92% more than the 13,622 units its immediate predecessor, Dead Club City, sold when it debuted at No.1 in 2023. All of Nothing But Thieves’ five albums have made the Top 10, and their biggest-seller is their eponymous 2015 debut, which peaked at No.7 and has to-date consumption of 142,164 units. The rest of the Top 10: You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love (3-4, 11,928 sales) by Olivia Rodrigo, The Essential (2-5, 9,513 sales) by Michael Jackson, Time Flies 1994-2009 (8-6, 9,204 sales) by Oasis, The Art Of Loving (5-7, 8,710 sales) by Olivia Dean, Visitor (4-8, 8,493 sales) by Sienna Spiro, (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? (14-9, 7,453 sales) by Oasis and 50 Years: Don’t Stop (7-10, 7,153 sales) by Fleetwood Mac.Surpassing the 1-45 slump experienced by her last album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves, Beabadoobee’s second No.1 album, Pylon, dives to No.75 (2,180 sales) on its second frame. Also exiting the Top 10: The Highlights (9-11, 6,608 sales) by The Weeknd, The Great Divide (10-12, 6,364 sales) by Noah Kahan and the now uncharted Violence Insane In A Beautiful World (487 sales) by Roger Taylor, which was No.6 last week. Arriving almost 45 years after their debut set, Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, reached No.5, Soft Cell’s sixth and final studio album Danceteria – finished two days before the death of David Ball, who partnered Marc Almond in the duo, last October – debuts at No.26 (3,550 sales). It is their 12th charted album, including remix and hits sets.Come This Madness (No.30, 3,155 sales) is the 12th studio album and eighth chart entry by Swedish band Europe, earning the 50-somethings quintet their highest chart position since 1988. Also new to the Top 75; Popstar (No.35, 2,948 sales), the eclectic eighth studio album and first chart entry for 33-year-old American singer Tinashe; Glastonbury 1994 (No.57, 2,499 sales), a fully restored and remastered version of fraternal electronic duo Orbital’s seminal set at Worthy Farm, and their 15th charted album; Nobody’s Coming To Save You (No.64, 2,322 sales), the second album and first chart entry for Dublin quintet Gurriers; and Unshatter Film Soundtrack (Live in São Paulo) (No.65, 2,311 sales), a 2024 Brazilian concert recording that serves as the soundtrack to the Linkin Park documentary of the same name, and delivers the band’s 17th chart entry.No.1 on initial release in 1996 but uncharted ever since, Suede’s third album, Coming Up, is newly remastered and expanded in CD, Blu-ray and digital editions, released alongside three new vinyl editions, and re-enters at No.45 (2,673 Sales), while another album marking its 30th anniversary is Alice In Chains’ MTV Unplugged, which reached No.20 at the time and now re-enters at No.49 (2,608 sales), following the release of two new vinyl editions.No.1 on the compilation chart for 58 of the 66 previous weeks that have elapsed since its release, the K-pop Demon Hunters soundtrack is swept aside this week, falling 1-2 (2,772 sales), to be replaced by Northern Exposure Redux: Sasha & John Digweed (3,306 sales, including 2,356 CDs, 633 vinyl albums and 317 digital downloads). It is a 30th anniversary makeover of the seminal progressive house/dub/trance/breaks set Northern Exposure - which reached No.7 on the compilation chart, and sold 43,383 copies – with expanded, remastered and reworked content. It is simultaneously released in limited double vinyl editions of repertoire tagged North and South on the original releases, with South debuting at No.5 (1,643 sales) and North debuting at No.6 (1,496 sales). Overall album sales are up 2.68% week-on-week to 2,455,009 units, 3.75% below same week 2025 sales of 2,550,564. Physical product accounts for 338,028 sales, 13.77% of the total. Friday at 17:154 days A separate Music Week article has given a breakdown of Keo's total of 23,527:19,835 physical, 1,781 downloads and 1,911 streams.
Friday at 17:164 days impressive debut numbers from Keo then even if they did get blocked by Taylor Swift
Friday at 17:204 days Massive for Keo, and wasn’t expecting Tinashe to trouble the Top 75 let alone the Top 40 so pleased it had a major turnaround in fortunes.
Friday at 17:334 days Taylor with 5 songs top 15 in a none 3 track ACR chart and 1 being a year old 😮😮
Friday at 17:444 days beabadoobee becomes the first artist to move 74 places in a week within either the singles or albums Top 75!
Friday at 17:504 days I've been out of the Taylor formatting loop a bit this week - what are the 14,640 CDs that she sold this week there? A new variant of the original album without the four new songs?I guess she is bound to issue the four new songs on yet another variant at some point too for another bounce back to the top.Surprise No.1 compilation! Friday at 18:294 days Interesting that Nicole Kidman by Adela actually increased consumption this week whilst dropping from number 4 to number 9.
Friday at 19:194 days I like Taylor and I have no idea who Keo are but it feels really harsh to deny them of the excitement of a first number 1 purely from adding signed standard albums last minute big OUCH for them.Sienna having her biggest numbers yet keeping her on SCR! Really nice to see better numbers at the top.
Friday at 19:384 days A new smash release blowing away all the competition with a massive… 47k! Feels very 2006.Sales now lower than this time last year for a couple of months solid. Presumably people aren’t actually moving away from streaming music so I wonder what’s driving it.
Friday at 20:034 days Good to see Top 10 in the albums clearing 7k again, had dipped a bit the last few weeks.
Friday at 20:304 days God forbid Taylor not control every inch of the narrative. Selling a CD with the promise of an autograph whenever she can be bothered to get around to it just to sneak a return to #1 is just… really? She really couldn’t bear the “Taylor Swift misses #1” headlines that probably wouldn’t even have been written because the album has already been #1 lol.
Friday at 20:364 days I could not be happier Tinashe made it to the top 40 in album charts after not being in any of the midweek predictions.
Friday at 20:384 days Taylor scores the double , is the obvious bigger headline and thats exactly what happened so good for her team securing it
