It's SoundClash!

In this event we celebrate the one hit wonders of the 21st century so far.

In each round, two songs will go head to head to come out on top, with each credited artist only having a single UK Top 40 hit to their name. In each case, you're voting for your favourite song. The winning songs will then go into a grand collection of one hit wonders to be voted for once the opening rounds are complete.

These are the two songs going head to head this round;

DJ Pied Piper & The Masters Of Ceremonies – Do You Really Like It? {#1, 2001} 🇬🇧

DJ Pied Piper & The Masters of Ceremonies are a British garage act. Their success helped bring UK garage into the mainstream, making them one of the genre’s most recognisable acts of the early 2000s.

OMI – Cheerleader [Felix Jaehn Remix] {#1, 2015} 🇯🇲

OMI is a Jamaican singer-songwriter, born Omar Samuel Pasley, who rose to international fame with his infectious 2015 hit particularly after a successful remix by German DJ Felix Jaehn. The song topped charts worldwide.

You Decide!

  • Love both of these but Do You Really Like It gives me that little bit extra pleasure. Also didn't OMI have a second hit with The Vamps or some random boy band?

  • Not including features, but that lyric sounds appalling.

Do You Really Like It? not quite, but I do like it a fair bit so it gets my vote (don't care much for Cheerleader oops)

Cheerleader. But, both are a liiiiitle bit on the naff side.

Do You Really Like It was a big school playground anthem back in the day.

yeah he found a girl who's in love with the girls 😭

(it was by The Vamps and peaked at #30 so if you include features he isn't really a UK one-hit wonder - also "Baby, you're mistaken / I'm not into bacon" has to be the worst way they could possibly have phrased it like what ?? 💀)

Somehow cannot stand Cheerleader - particularly because of the vocals. Also never got really into Do You Really Like It?, but this is the less bad one for me.

I can't stand the DJ Pied Piper one, the fact everyone at school was so obsessed with it made it worse.

'Cheerleader' was really overplayed but I at least get some enjoyment out of it.
